Cing Declares Bankruptcy Quote:
The independent Japanese developer Cing has filed for bankruptcy, according to NeoGAF). The decision was made due to the company's massive debt, totaling 200 million yen (over 2 million in USD). The small developer is known best in the States for Hotel Dusk: Room 215, and for their role in developing Little King's Story. Bankruptcy isn't the same as a studio closure, and can sometimes simply be used as a tool for financial restructuring. It's hard to tell right now if the studio is seeing any job losses due to this, or how it might impact a potential domestic release of The Last Window. The Hotel Dusk sequel has been out in Japan since January, but no U.S. plans have been mentioned. This bankruptcy probably means Cing is tightening its financial belt, so we might not see it come to us at all. We'll keep an eye out for more details. |
That sucks. I hope they pull out of this.
I've been meaning to try
Hotel Dusk, but right now it's just one amongst dozens of other games I've been needing to play.
