Nintendo E3 2011 Press Conference Thread

The day is finally upon us. I'm kind of glad that Nintendo have the day to themselves rather than Sony or Microsoft having their show before/after them.

I'm gonna be tuned into a livestream later on and posting stuff as it happens. This means we won't be able to provide any newslinks to these announcements until the writers get to work.

So what can we expect? Well, we know the new console's gonna be announced but what do we know about it? Not a lot so far - Nintendo have done incredibly well to guard against leaks to the press. There has been one errant rumour that the console will simply be named 'Nintendo', which I actually quite like. Whether it turns out to be the final name we'll have to wait and see.

Other than that, we've got a few hours to speculate on what might happen. I will continue my annual wish for a new Starfox game in the style of Lylatwars, personally.

Four Swords available for free on DSi

Skyward Sword available in the holiday season for Wii.

I think they mean Four Swords will be a DSiWare title, so it'll be playable on both DSi and 3DS. I'm perfectly okay with that.

Mario Kart is getting craaaaazy! (with airgliding and underwater driving and 'customizable' cars)
SF643DS has multiplayer and lets you look at the despair of your friends.
Super Mario 3D has the Tanooki Suit and I think that was Morton Koopa!
Kid Icarus has multiplayer.
Luigi's Mansion 2 has several new mansions.

New console is Wii U. And the controller has been revealed! It lets you stream the game to the controller's screen.
Tech demo showed Link fighting Armaghoma.

This controller doesn't sound like it's going to be cheap.

Darksiders II, Ninja Gaiden 3, Batman Arkham City, Tekken, Dirt, Aliens game, Ghost Reacon Online and Metro Last Night are being planned for WiiU.

EA guy is coming on stage to call it awesome.

The is the First Picture of Nintendo's New Console, the Wii U

Alright, so everything I can remember about Project Cafe, now known as Wii U.

There was no price announced.

It's being released in 2012.

It'll be in HD, it seems.

The controller features a touch screen, a stylus, a face camera, a gyroscope, a microphone, two analogue sticks, a d-pad, 4 shoulder buttons and 4 regular buttons.

Third party support confirmed from EA, to the point where BF3, Ghost Recon Online and EA Sports titles will all be featured on Wii U.

Other third party support is confirmed up the wazoo. Batman Arkham City, Darksiders II, Assassin's Creed Revelations and new Tekken are some of the titles listed to appear on Wii U.
