| Guest Posts: n/a | Now in a perfect world, this wouldn't be so short... that is, you'd be reading it as it happened, not after it happened... but I have not the patience. Oh, yeah... sorry if it's too off-the-wall... but this seemed to fit the Marioverse. Also, if Luigi seems a bit off, I'm considering any character growth that might have happened in Mario & Luigi. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ The neighborhoods around Mushroom Castle had been somewhat empty. An establishment had opened that all of the toads were flocking to, and they were calling it the "Arcade." Inside were glorious machines that displayed glowing, moving images. All you had to do was insert a coin, and you could control the images. Each one of these machines had a purpose--one was to shoot all of the invading paratroopas on the screen as they lowered. It was awkward how quickly the toads got used to this entertainment. The most popular machine of all... standing in the middle of the "Arcade"... was the "Beat Dropper." A toad moved his or her feet along the pads, forming a dance. They couldn't do just any dance, though... they had to do the dance in the way that the arrows on the screen told them to dance. Most of the time, another toad would be there to challenge, and they'd dance off against each other. And everyone awaited their turn to play, and hoo boy, was it worth the wait. One day, the Princess requested that the arcade be open to no one but her and her friends. Included were, of course, Mario and Luigi, among others. When Mario and Luigi laid their eyes upon the "Beat Dropper," they didn't know what to think. Peach told them to give it a shot, and both were game. Being the Mario Brothers, they both took to it quickly and were outdoing each other. Before the dance-off had really begun, though, Luigi was shoved aside and replaced by some rude toad. Looked no more different than your average toad, save for the mean face he had on. Mario looked back to his brother, who seemed to him to have taken it well, so Mario continued and accepted this toad's challenge. Sheez, was this guy good--! No one having asked any questions about the identity of the toad or such, the dance-off continued. After showing Mario how bad he was, the toad begun to grow brown and dancing furiously. Then came the strangest thing--a twenty-fold set of dance steps pounded by the ever more suspicious toad, which concluded in a wave of energy emerging from his feet aimed directly at Mario. Mario was hit and was knocked back two meters or so from the machine, landing on his back. At this point, the dance-off was over, and Luigi rushed to his brother. After asserting to Luigi that he was fine, the green bro stepped up to challenge what was now a goomba, in defense of his brother. Unfortunately, this dance-off was basically an encore for the goomba, and Luigi ended up flying off the stage as well. The goomba was easily stomped by Mario after this. In this time, Bowser's army had begun to move in. And--unfortunately for our heroes--they could use this dancing magic _without_ the stage. The castle was easily theirs, and everyone not captured took to hiding in the Forest Maze near Rose Town. After trying to defeat the stray koopas who wandered into the Forest Maze, it was clear that it took a large group of fifteen or so to subdue it, even when both of the Mario Bros were battling it. Luckily, they were able to throw those koopas deeper into the Forest Maze in order for them never to return, thus being able to tell Bowser where everyone was hiding. Not even the best of the "Beat Dropper" players could not access the dancing magic. So, this left only one alternative; they had to shut down the magic, wherever its source may lay.
