What Paranormal stuff do you believe in? I'm pretty much open to everything. I have a Ghost living in my house, so I believe in them. I believe in Aliens. If you go by the idea that there are roughly the some number of suns as there are sand particles, it's hard not to believe that another sun may have a planet with life forms. |

What I believe in is pretty selective, based mostly on my experiences and on logic. Aliens, yes. Will they be anything like humans, or even capable of communication? No, probably not. Ghosts, absolutely. I see spirits all the time. Telepathy, yes. etc etc etc |

Not aliens anywhere nearby, though. As for precognition and paranormal stuff, I'd certainly like to believe it, but there's nothing really substantial that points to it aside from anecdotal. Maybe I'm ruined my wonder for the unnatural world, but after studying psychology and the human condition, I can come up with a reasonable explanation why we'd think there's these things without them actually existing. Irregardless, I'm still open to paranormal stuff that's reproducible, because that would be totally smexy. |

Blathering aside, this sort of thing was exactly the kind of discussion I was trying to open up with this forum. Personally, I do believe in a lot of matters that step outside the circle of true science. Aliens? Almost certainly yes. It's a big universe. Are they trying to contact us? Maybe, but I think not. Ghosts? Definitely possible this sort of activity exists around us, but most of the stuff shown on TV and the likes (ghost hunters, mediums contacting the dead) I tend to lump together as a load of cack making money off of peoples' gullibility. I'd like to get into this further, but I think I'll save it for another topic for now. Telepathy/psychics? See the above. Legendary creatures (Bigfoot, Nessie, Mothman, etc.)? I think it's possible for there to be strange and undocumented creatures out there. But something as phenomenal as Sasquatch or the Loch Ness monster just sound ridiculous to me. I try to find out the facts about these sort of things, but with all these rumors and crap flying around it's hard to find out what's apocryph and what's not. Another thing, I tend to analyze things with a scientific approach rather than a religious/spiritual one, but that doesn't mean I won't wade into either (or any other) field. |

I THINK those count as paranormal stuff. I always have. Though, it doesn't seem to fit with everyone else's answer........sorry. I also believe in good ol' Nessie? ![]() |

| Senior Member Join Date: Jul 2001 Location: Planet Draco Gender: Posts: 6,038 Thanks: 67 Thanked 36 Times in 29 Posts | finally! whoever made this forum, thank you! okay I do think there are aliens out there, maybe not the greys or things like that but someone's got to be out there! I'm guessing that if they are out there, then they would be humanoid (look basicly like us but with differences) like for example some race might look just like us except they'd be, I dunno, blue with pointy ears and odd colored eyes and hair. or they could look exactly like us or they could be monsterous looking who knows. but aliens have to be out there somewhere! now as for them looking for us, I don't think so. I mean think about it, we are just now reaching a somewhat advanced civilization but we still have a long way to go. any aliens that come to earth would be much more advanced than us. let's face it we're a backwater planet that's probably the laughing stock of the universe. as for legendary creatures (nessie, bigfoot, etc) yeah, I'm sure at least some of them are out there. and as far as mythological creatures (dragons, ogres, trolls, giants, etc) I know they exist in some form or another, as in they might have been physical entities at one time but are probably just spirits now. basicly we can't see them but they're there. magic? I think it's very real. it's kind of like the force, it's in and around everything and is what holds the universe together. ghosts and spirits, hmm... depends. if you mean ghosts in the traditional sense like white sheet with holes for eyes or white see through people that try to scare the living, then no. but if you mean lingering souls of the departed and creatures of the astral and spirit planes then yes. I also think that some stronger entities are able to lift the veil of the spirit plane to show us brief glimpses of their existance. |

'Cause I'm evil. In truth, I don't believe in aliens (there is life out there, but likely nothing to do with our limited, human conceptions of it), psychics generally come off as fake (using cold reading, any one of us here could claim to be one), ghosts don't even come in haunted places (oddly, I've been in so-called 'haunted' houses and found myself right at home while people around me are scared to death) and don't even believe in God. The one thing I wish to figure out is if there's reincarnation or not, but even that is sort of slipping. The only paranormal mystery to me is why I feel much older than my body and my lack of discomfort with death (then again, a near-death experience will do that to you). A dream or two claimed my soul felt more like 63 rather than my age, which would probably be true, except I'm not so sure in the existence of a soul either. Generally I plan to, or at least wish to use science to probe what we have traditionally called off-limits. There has to be a scientific way to probe for psychic powers, afterlife, etc. I've heard some theories which should be properly tested that might allow scientific insight on what is otherwise given over to the realm of folklore. |

I do not believe in magic par se, but someone with a strong enough will and desire can modify the world around them. |

HOOEY I TELLS YA Monsters...maybe. I can accept the potential existence of your cryptids (you know, your hodags and chupacabras and sasquatches and all). Not so much vampires and crap, though. |

As much as I hate the idea of fate, I have had a psychic dream once, and man, that is sticking in my head until death. I have a nice book on the paranormal, but I just can't seem to find it. Man, it has things from Ritual Magic to the different types of psychic powers to mythical places to... well, you get the picture. Nessie will always live on in my heart. |

Psychics, to some extent. Cryptids, some of them, yes. Anyway, the paranormal can usually be explained as either normal or spiritual. We can never hope to understand all of this world and what's beyond. It's just a fun thing to speculate upon. |
