Do you believe in Magical Creatures, Fairies, Gnomes, Kappa's, etc?

As for me I think they lived used to in our world or co exist like in the 1700's and below because we would not have all of these stories about them from so many different people that came from other times and palces and most of there stories and describtions are simalry or somewhat simalry ( please don't think am gullible ) and also just like what I said about aliens people really think out of all the billons of galxies and etc earth is the only palnet that can suppport life . So what do you think about them?

Magical creatures, I don't buy. Cryptids, though...cryptids are another story.

well they might have existed at one time, dragons were a higher probability than others though due to the fact every culture on this planet has myths, legends, etc. of dragons in some form or another where as other creatures are localized to certain areas on this planet. but I do know that the Japaneese still really believe in the "demons" and spirits that they claimed to exist in their history, kappas in particular. even to this day they have signs up in certain places warning of kappas. let me get a pic of one of those warning signs.

and before you say anything, no it's not doctored or photoshopped in any way.

I don't believe in magic therefore I don't believe in "Magical Creatures".
Now ask me if I want to believe.

Look, I really don't think they believe in them. It's a cultural thing; it is like saying that Americans really believe that their teeth are taken by a fairy while they sleep.

that's not going to work ace. because if they didn't believe in kappa and other such creatures, why then would they go to the trouble of making a sign warning people of kappa and setting it up in a public place?

Could be they're trying to warn children in a child-friendly way. Looking at the sign, it's very cartoony and can be understood without reading--that's a good indication that something is aimed somewhat towards children. Now, kappas supposedly lurk in bodies of water. Can you think of a reason aside from monsters that you'd want to keep four-year-olds from dinking around next to bodies of water? Like, the risk of falling in and drowning, maybe?

When I was a little, little kid, my dad used to tell me the woods behind our house were haunted, and goblins would get me if I stayed in there after nightfall. Against all odds, this was more effective at getting me home in time than saying 'if you wander around in the woods after sundown, you're liable to get lost, or trip and hurt yourself' would have been. 'Accident' doesn't frighten kids much; 'boogeyman' does.

Okay, yeah, raccoon dogs exist. Are you implying something else?

yes, but racoon dog translates to Tanuki in japaneese. one of their "mythical creatures", and yet it exists, how do we know that something similar to a kappa or a tengu or some other "mythical creature" doesn't exist. think about it, there are mysterious creatures we reffer to as cryptids, creatures that might exist but we haven't caught one yet (except retrieving the bodies of dead giant squids). so what's to automatically rule out the existance of other mythic/magic creatures.

until someone actually finds evidence for or against the existance of something we can not rule out the possibility of it's existance.

I can rule out the possibility of magic creatures. For magic creatures to exist, magic itself would have to exist. Which it doesn't. Boom. Done.

You can't really rule out anything in science, but for the existence of mythological creature, with mythological powers, it requires an extraordinary amount of proof before the community believes they exist.

For me, the most logical explanation is that the Japanese simply made up fairy tales using the local animals. Similarly, we don't believe that pigs build houses and that chipmunks sing.

so the possibility exists. as in these kinds of creatures might exist, just without their powers correct?

You both seem to live in different worlds. One, where everything has to be proven to exist, the other where everything has to be proven not to exist. I think it's mistaken to expect everyone to be in your world.
