I've given my own translation here.) Investigation held for origin of rain with appearance of blood in a rural area of Bagadó (Chocó) Father Jhony Milton Córdoba believes that the phenomenon is a sign from God for the people to change their sinful ways. The unusual event, that even now the ecclesiastical hierarchy will not confirm is a miracle, occurred yesterday at 10:30 in the morning in the small town of La Sierra. According to the eyewitness accounts collected by Father Córdoba, in that hour the rain fell and townspeople observed that in a space of approximately 100 meters the liquid had a red coloring, which continued for around 30 minutes. As time passed, the water lost its red hue and reverted to the appearance of regular rainwater. Nevertheless, an inhabitant of the village collected a sample of the red liquid and brought it to the urban center of Bagadó. The bacteriologist from the town submitted the sample to an analysis and he confirmed that it was in fact blood, according to Father Córdoba. However, details were not specified and experts claim more testing was necessary to prove that the substance was really blood. "It is difficult to explain the phenomenon, but it may be a sign from God that warns us to change our ways, because Man wants to change the course of the history and to himself be God", he said. La Sierra is composed of nearly 200 people, mostly black, that mainly inhabit the banks of the river Andágueda, a half hour from the municipal head. In 1994 an avalanche forced the population to relocate and many of the houses were built on a hill in which was originally a cemetery. Their religious traditions are deeply rooted and are mixed with the Afro cosmogony. "Inexplicable things have been seen, therefore one cannot venture to give a hypothesis. What we are doing is waiting for the father in Chocó to send the sample of the liquid to Quibdo", noted soon after the bishop of Quibdo, Monseigneur Fidel Lión Cadavid. For the time being, an ecclesiastical commission is expected to be sent to the place where the alleged miracle occurred to verify the stories. MEDELLÍN |

I wonder... no, surely it couldn't be blood - it's just not logical. It must be a natural phenomena and not divine intervention! But then again, if it's not blood then what the hell is it. ![]() |
