This thread is for talking about normal representations of aliens, and what is wrong with them.

Low chance of evolving:
symettry
arms
legs
two appendages
eyes
four appendages
appendages
noses
mouths
brains
skin?
bones
cartilage
bound neuclei
gender
democrats
hands
toes
fingers
the English language, DUH!

Or maybe they look just like us, just with different technology and differences only due to circumstances (environment, lack of physical activity due to immense technological advances, ect.). Also, for not helping us, they're d*cks.

The chances of that are equal to the number of the next mario party game. NOT EXACTLY ONE IN A QUADRILLION.

All of that list could've been covered with just the last one. Of course, if multicelluar life appears, most of the others are much more likely. Especially the eye. How do you figure that vision, of all things is unlikely to evolve? Or is that just because of the unlikelyhood of multicellular organisms in general?

There's this cool new thing called photoshop...

^^I don't really think so.

Think about the eye. There could still be vision without actuall eyes. Maybe just an eye spot. if that. They might see in infared or ultraviolet, even in radio waves. If they had eyes, they could be on the appendages or underneath, there could be no color, no iris, etc.

Blood- the concept of blood as we know it in different colors is not exactly likely if it is even possible. Since the iron makes it red, and the iron carries the oxygen, then the blood has to be red, unless it uses another element to carry oxygen.

Oxygen is an important part of the animal cellular respiritory process. Then again, they might have a different process. So good point.

Well, that's what I meant. Those are still eyes, despite being primitive ones. It wouldn't be too surprising to see those in aliens since there are already terrestrial animals with eyesight like that. i.e. the mantis shrimp.

Actually, lots of animals we know already have blue blood. Cephalopods and most invertebrates in general don't have the iron-containing hemoglobin. So no red pigmentation for them.
Edit: Also, I could imagine there being some other chemical in blood (which doesn't have any function in relation to oxygen transfer) that gives it a pigment.

If there really and truely is inteligent life on other plants, they would seek out other such lifeforms, but before making any kind of desision about coming into contact with other beings they would gather inteligence about the said other beings.

Given how seemingly pre-dispossed with self destruction we humans are they would most likely, 1 Leave us to our own devices hoping we don't desiced to go on a Xenophobic rampage should we ever master innergalactic trave, or 2 destroy us to make sure that said Xenophobic rampage NEVER starts in the first place.

- You stupid dog!
