An early theory of mine was that Ben was a normal ghost kid trying to finish his game or something. He was unable to until Matt put the game in his N64, which made Ben very happy. Due to his ghostly presence, the game confused the names of the Link and Ben files. Then...Matt deleted Ben's file. Ben was occupying the file, so he too was sent to the void. His soul was corrupted and he felt betrayed. His behavior and knowledge changed, and he "embraced" the game's code. In a way, he was Skull Kid and the game was Majora. Matt tried the Day 4 glitch, which allowed the new Ben to crawl out...and then **** got real. I'm not sure if this theory works anymore, but I thought it was cool back then. The whole story managed to be very neat. It's a shame we didn't get to see how it all played out, but what I did see managed to be it's own brand of freakiness. This is nice because the whole thing is based off a game that's already kinda freaky. Here's something that's really not Paranormal. ![]() Last edited by X-3; 09-25-2010 at 01:15 PM. |

Now of course, Majora's Mask wasn't the right game for that, but surely the canon of that time area isn't too packed to prevent a minor sub-plot game over that. ![]() |

The ending (the text file) was ****ing mind-blowing. The story was so well-crafted that for a split second, I expected to actually start to get haunted. Damn. I haven't enjoyed a horror piece this much since Marble Hornets, and to be honest, it's actually a little bit better (in terms of writing, not in terms of the way it made me paranoid - Marble Hornets still wins in that category because I actually lost a little sleep over it (read: about 20 minutes of sleep and a couple of weird dreams involving Slendy)). So yeah. Good stuff - I thoroughly enjoyed it. Not gonna bother with the ARG continuation. I would, but it seems to have spiraled out of control. I think the author is planning on making it bigger and better now that he has funds, so I will periodically check back, but for now, the original "Part 1" was good enough. It lost merit when he stated that Ben was controlling what he could do. It was, however, enjoyable, and I do not regret reading it. |
