Well, I was bored, so today, I picked up World of Warcraft. I've gotten past all of the installation and such, am I'm trying to set up my account. Since nobody in my family has a credit card, I'm stuck using the game cards to play. I didn't buy a game card along with the actual game, I'm going to wait until my free trial month thing's over until I do. I'm on the billing details page on the site, and it's not letting me progress without a game card code, even though I should be getting a free month of play. I looked in the manual, and it's not helping me out one bit. So obviously, I need to know how to get past this. Anybody know how to do so? |

I think you get a week of free play just for buying the game too; the month of free play was meant so you could give it to someone else to snag their subscription too, but I used it for myself. |

I guess it's to make sure that you're actually going to pay them once the trial's up-- you won't be charged for the trial period, but they don't want random punks like me getting a few weeks of free play and not intending to actually pay them any money. You did pay for the CD itself, but I'm guessing it's the same idea. Then again, you ought to listen to Ace. I don't actually own WoW, so I wouldn't know. |

Entering the guest code or the authorization key in the game card code box won't work, seeing as it's one character too long to fit. I tried creating an account with the guest code instead of the authorization key, but when I get to the payment page, game cards aren't listed as a form of payment. So I'm still a bit stuck. Edit: Well, nevermind. According to some giant FAQ topic over at GameFAQs, you need to buy an actual game card to get your free month. Must get around to doing that sometime, then. -_- Last edited by Jumi Jao; 09-12-2006 at 10:22 PM. |

| Marshmallow Knight ☆ Supermod | Huh. Well, I'm out of ideas. Wait for someone else here who really knows what s/he's talking about, or call up the WoW service support hotline. |

They won't bill it until your first month is up, but I'm certain they need some sort of proof of future payment before they activate the account. To compare it to other things: its the same way when you get a free trial to a magazine...they get your billing info and bill you when the trial is over unless you cancel (with the exception of that free gamepro subsciption I got like 4 years ago that never asked for billing info and never stopped sending magazines even through 4 address changes). The other possibility is that you had some issues because of the server upgrades they've been doing this week. They had a ton of servers down to prep for the expansion pack. I'm leaning towards the first probability though. |
