Messed around with it today. Positives: being a rogue actually made me feel useful, for one. That never happens. I sort of sucked, but that's just the dice. The built-in voice chat is nice, although it'd be better if I could figure out how to make my own mic work. Um... the controls are pretty intuitive, also. Negatives: combat was pretty stupid, at least for me. I have to manually turn to face my opponent if I want to attack him? And if he moves, I have to follow him around by hand? Lame. I might also have to click on him to attack every time he moves, but I could just not have found the the key for that. It also felt like my hands needed to be in three places at once-- one on WASD, one on the set of number keys on top (which has a name, which I forgot), and one on the mouse. Frustrating. I don't really like the control bar setup thing-- seems like I should be pushing a different set of keys for using a skill (ex: Open Lock) and for selecting a weapon, a la Guild Wars. I don't see why they divided wealth into pp, gp, sp, and cp. I suppose I can see sp and cp, but pp are just annoying. It'd also be nice to have more convenient shops. I dunno. Overall, I sort of liked it, despite all those negatives, but I'd need to play it more to give a more comprehensive review. Anyone else played it? |

The currency is divided as such because it was like that way in the pencil & paper game! Most prices are measured in GP rather than PP, however. I also found out that the game is missing 2 races and 2 classes! I think the classes that are missing are the Monk and the Druid, but I don't know what races are available in the computer game, but there are 7 in the P&P game. |

I think half-orcs and gnomes are out and warforged are in, but I could be wrong. It's just more convenient to always have your wealth in gp. Everything's priced in gp, why should I have to convert my inventory when I'm thinking about what I want to buy or just how much wealth I have? |

You essentially can get the same thing (if not better) on random persistant Neverwinter Nights servers. D&D doesn't seem to apply to the MMORPG genre as well as, say, Warcraft did. Warhammer, OTOH, looks like it may actually not suck. Then again, EA bought out the developer, so it'll likely be rushed, buggy, overpriced, not policed, and fall into anarchy like the Sims Online or just eventually abandoned like Ultima Online because EA takes a DILLIGAF attitude. |

There were a lot of little nuisances, things that could have and should have been done better, but I enjoyed my limited time playing. Not sure I would pay a monthly fee for it, though. |
