I don't think mages can use swords. Or most melee weapons for that matter.

They can with weapon training...but it's not very practical They should stick with staves and wands and off-hand items.

Mm-mm. Can't use staves and off-hands at the same time. Swords and daggers might be practical if they used Blackguard or one of the PvP rewards. I think Blackguard subtracts from your enemy's health and adds to yours, so it could be used in a pinch when, like, a bunch of n00bs bluewall you or something.
Good sword/dagger + good off-hand = better than staff in some cases.
I'm sure one of the only reasons they gave mages and warlocks the ability to use swords in the first place was because Rhonin had one or something.

Hmm...if you have an enchanter friend they should be able to make you one for a price. That, or you could go to the auction house and buy one for around six to twenty-four silver. Mobs do drop them, but it's fairly rare. I've only had around somewhere around two to five drop with my warlock I took up to level fifty-two before deleting it.
You could also ask at the official forums. But people can be a little pissy there.

what i meant was use "wand and off-hand item". If a mage used swords, it wouldn't work out well as the stat bonuses on most good swords are for strength and stamina, not the mages strong points.

Can some one help me?
I just got a new computer, and I bought the game and a friend of mines account.
So I log in and I need to download a patch. After a few minutes it says that there is a problem and a firewall is blocking the download. So now I turned off the firewall and set the misconfiguration and stuff, but it still wont let me dowload the patch. Anyone know how to solve this problem?

Yeah, Blizzard Downloader is like that. I remember patch 2.01 took, like, five hours longer than it was supposed to and I missed half of Friday the 13th because of it. -__-;
Like everyone else said, you can try the little instructiosn Blizz gives you, but I'd recommend going to the forums and telling them in the suggestions forum to do something.

Around 50ish, sounds like not alot, but enchanting is one of the harder proffesions to level.

Well I started from scratch.
This is the first time I can play without having to go to a friends house to get into the game.

If any of you are interested in herbalism and don't know where to farm herbs I can recommend a couple of places if you'd like. : D?

Stick with leatherworking and skinning until you are level 40. Then after that I'd switch to something better off for the higher levels such as enchanting. People seem to pay a lot of money for the higher level enchantments. But be careful when you switch one of your primary professions you'll lose all knowledge of it meaning if you go back to it later on you'll start from scratch. But if your level 65 like me, just go to hellfire peninsula and farm gold there! I got like 90 gold a day there! And here's a tip, don't bother with blacksmithing because the user made armor is crap compared to the teir sets you'll find in the dungeons!

You should go with the enchanting/herbalism profession combo if you wanna be a good enchanter.

Mm, depending on what server you play you can make good money with x gathering skill.
Like, absolutely nothing sells on Skywall; everything sells great on Sentinels; herbs are best on Stormrage...

Yeah, around thirty I think. Been awhile since I paid my account.
My guildies on Skywall told me 50-60 was like 1-50 all over again but that was a crock.
Just stay off that character for, like, six days and play again.

Rest - WoWWiki

Make a 'resting alt' if you have to.
