computer video to tv

I have a gateway laptop running windows XP home. It has no video out port on it like some i have seen. But it does have VGA if i wanted to plug it into a computer monitor. But i was wondering if there was a way to hook it up to a big screen projection TV or a receiver. Is there a VGA to RCA or S-video or something that can do that?? I didnt really want to buy a converter box because i would have to get it over the internet and i am not allowed to do that by my parents. Unless i can build one or something.... But if anyone has any ideas please help? thanks

Oh no! Not Shyguymaster! Well, back on topic, the only tvs you can connect to computers are call HDTV monitors. other tvs don't work.
