Has anyone here played this game? It's a SimCity-ish game, where you're the president of a small Caribbean island and have to turn the rural island into a major country. It also not only has the economic aspects of constructing buildings and developing the tourism and agriculture etc. industries, but it's got the political aspects too. If you don't treat the people and different factions fairly, they could revolt or vote against you in elections(if you decide to have free elections, that is). You also have to maintain good relationships with the US and Soviet Union(it's taking place during the Cold War) if you want to receive foreign aid and stuff like that. It's overall a pretty good game, and probably my favorite sim style title to date.

April 2001. So it's a bit older, but I didn't find out about it until several months ago.

There's actually going to be a Tropico 2 this April, with a pirate theme. So instead of being El Presidente, this time you would be a pirate captain trying to build a pirate empire in the Caribbean. Still the same basic gameplay style(I think), just a different role to play.

I'm surprised I didn't see this earlier.

I worship this game. I loved the SimCity series and I love Carribbean culture and I bought this game the week it came out, and it's my most played PC game next to Champ Man 01/02.

I've never had people revolt against me, but I'm trying to get them to just for fun.

Also, once, I couldn't grow enough food to feed my very fast growing island so I started jailing and eilminating all the retired seniors. I'm sick.
