I like just about all RTS's, but currently Command and Conquer Generals has my attention. Coming up close are Red Alert 2, Starcraft (just about all the versions), and Homeworld (awesome game!). However, I recently discovered Rise of Nations, and that game's trial has recieved quite a bit of play time over the past 24 hours. I think I'll be buying that one |

What moron decided to put a 90 food cap and eliminate naval battles? Lame. Aside from that, I've been going back to Star Wars Galactic Battlegrounds. Resource management is easy. You just have to make sure you aren't rushed in the first 3 minutes and learn how to set up perimeter defenses. |

| Guest | God, do I love RTSes. I'm currently working on Empire Earth and Stronghold Crusader, although Stronghold can be more of a city builder at times. Empire Earth would be perfect with a city builder aspect in with it, but then it would be a coulpe gig and probably take a Pentium 4. SC is good too, but is kinda old and lacks a lot of the complexites that make AoE and games like that so much fun. Battle.net makes it all okay though. |

| Guest | My favorite RTS has always been Starcraft. That game may be old, but it kept me playing for a long time, especially with battlenet and how unlike newer RTS, there's no upkeep nor Rock/Paper/Scissors bonus damage, just effectiveness of units vs units. The only thing I don't like is how it lacks features of newer RTS, I have to hot key groups just to attack in formation, but I guess that can be forgiven due to it's age and since it's made a huge impact on RTS. And I also don't find resource management that hard. The way I see it, it's all about your economy. As mention it's important to set up a good defence at the beginning, but after that there's more. Like expansions, you need to expand to keep up your economy, defend the expansions and destroy other expansions to destroy their economy to cut off resources. Winning on the other hand is about what I like to call "time/focus management", the amount of time and focus you spend on your base, mining, building, researching and upgrading, vs the time and focus you spend defending, attacking, exploiting weaknesses, strategies, focus fire, casting spells etc. If you manage your focus and time right, you are likely going to win in the end. |

| Guest | My favorite? It's probably a tie between the Age of Empires series and Empire Earth. For the simple novelty of playing AoE2, cheating to get the COBRA car and gunning down all the enemie's civilian and destroying all their Town Centres. That is the way to win games, especially if you can substitute the COBRA for a normal army. |
