whats your opinion on RTS? you either like them or you dont. if you do name your faves. if you dont tell us why. i cant understand why someone would hate such a great genre. meh my faves are.

Homeworld
the C and C series
Starcraft, warcraft (anything that blizzard makes in fact)
and the Age of empires series

Homeworld series rocks.

Command and Conquer rocks.

Starcraft and Warcraft rock.

I also like Cavedog's few games... some of the best.

Never played the Age of Empires series, if you can believe it; only one I've got is Age of Mythology. And that rocks, too.

Age of Mythology/Empires kicks ass. As well as Starcraft and Warcraft.

Warcraft II is great. Warcraft III suxxorz. Starcraft is overrated.

Age of Empire I and II are great, as is Galactic Battlegrounds.

Command and Conquer has bitten severe amounts of ass from Tiberian Sun onwards. I like Red Alert.

Emperor: Battle for Dune was fun, if you like Dune.

Civ III is awesome, even if it technically isn't RTS.

The genre is fine, but I don't really find the games to appealing (except maybe for Nexagon Deathmatch now and again). I feel more like a bystander than a part of the action in those games. I'm more of an FPS, racing, and RPG gamer myself.

Age of Empires II is fab, it's the only RTS game I own though. I'm thinking of getting Rise of Nations as well.

hmmm i must say that the homeworld games are the best in rpg history now that i think of it.

I love RTS's and hate very few.Some of my favs are
Starcraft and the expansion
Warcraft3(haven't tried the others but plan on getting the 2nd)
C&C series
RoN
Populous
AOE series
Shogun:Total War(and expansion although it is a mixture of TBS and RTS.)
Midieval:Total War(expansions were alright, and it is a mixture of TBS and RTS too.)
and many many more.

Lurch? how could you even consider Civ3 in this? It's nothing near RTS.I mean it is a great game and all (believe me my favorite genre is TBS) but still.

It does seem to be that RoN is a great hit, and I know it's a great game.After all, I do love to watch the comp's knights charge my machine gun positions and get mowed down.It's such a beautiful thing (even if that has happened to me on a few occasions).
Regretfully I haven't had the chance to play Age of Mythology although I have heard it's a great game.

i like WC3 and SC WC2 is outdated and all you do in WC2 is get orger mages asap w/ bloodlust faster than the other guy. SC you have to decided more units and WC3 with the limited count and greater health+hero takes more micro which is why some people dont like wc3. C&C just plainly sucks compared to the crafts. AOE, AOM etc is prty good too.

My favorite has always been Starcraft, but Warcraft 3 is starting to shine on me now that I finally got it. I also like AOM but not so much AOE. I didn't like WC2 much for the same reasons as AOE. The races were just too similar with only slight differences. While with SC, WC3 and AOM every race was different and focused on a different style of gameplay, yet it was still quite balanced.
