I might post later tonight. |

I personally love fighting in the industrial age because there aren't any annoying fireships and it can provide a challenge to win a war with low casualties(I usually take upwards of 75%). |

Toad, what's wrong with planes and tanks? I know what you mean by annoying, but is there anything else? Well I like tanks and don't find them annoying, but bombers sure as hell are. Edit: Man, I'm currently in a game thats going on 6 hours(saved game 8 player diplo with comps on an east indies map). It's gotten down to the final 3.I'm the British with tech stoppd at industrial age and my ally(Inca) betrayed me to fight with my enemy(Germany)against me.Although I control 79% of the territory I've had to make peace with them once to rebuild and gather my forces. It's extremely hard because I own territory down the middle with the Inca on my left and Germany on my right.Sense my war or wars started against these two my casualties have more than doubled from what they were originally after leading the main assualts that wiped out 5 computers. This is all on moderate.I don't know if any of you have advice on a different military grouping than mine, which all but the beginning has been whatever I can make and scrap together goes to the front, that will help a lot. Thanks for those who do give me advise. I'm buying it this weekend, hopefully... I've played the trial version for hours a day for the past several weeks. I play on moderate... but I play with tooons of comps. Generally 7. Makes for a nice game... only problem is that once everyone hits about the modern age or so, starts lagging like hell... and believe me, once I played it through the lag into the Information Age, and DAMN. "Missile launch dete-Missile lau-Miss-Mi" We got some trigger happy compies over here. Best. Game. Ever. |

Anyone got any stories of big battles? How long has the longest battle you've ever had for one city or island lasted? One of mine has lasted for 2 hours of constant fighing. It was so great. |

| Guest | Well, tanks ain't so bad, since they're really not very different from cavalry at all. I just like cavalry better. And with tanks comes planes anyway. I'll grant that the biplanes are more funny than irritating, but you still have to modify your army to include anti-aircraft missiles and the like. It adds another dimension I don't feel like dealing with. First time I played with my brother, we went to the Information Age... and we were playing that island map where each nation gets its own island. And we both sucked at the game. Needless to say, no one won. We decided "screw it" and nuked the crap out of some whale until the armageddon counter went off. |

Posts: 9,529 Thanks: 0 Thanked 0 Times in 0 Posts | I just played a game on Moderate against one computer on an Arena sized map... very very fast-paced fighting. The bastard had seized most of the territory early on, though, and won sheerly because of territory... he kept smashing through my cities, and I didn't have the resources to battle him in open combat. VERY fun game... I hope to get the full version today. As I said, I've played a few 8-person games on Big Huge maps... insane, man. Just insane. I set it on diplomacy and we're a go. Once it gets to the end, there is BITTER fighting going on. One game comes to mind... I was Egyptians, since I only have the trial right now, and hadn't been paying attention... suddenly I realized it was the Information Age and everyone but me had nukes. Fortunately, I'd been using all my resources to upgrade, and got a missile shield. Only one nuke hit me... then I built six missile silos and the rest was history. I was VERY careful with my nuking, however... I only used 6 nukes, actually. All ICBMs, true enough, but still not quite enough to tip the scales of Armageddon. I would've used more, but by that time all the comps had developed missile shields anyway. I used my nukes strategically, only using one right before I invaded... managed to barely come away with a victory. |

Posts: 9,529 Thanks: 0 Thanked 0 Times in 0 Posts | In all my games, no one can be allied with more than one other person... there a way to play a diplomacy when you can be allied with anyone? FINALLY got the full version today... I just played a game with my brother and a buncha compies, but he had to quit, so I just stomped the comps... researched everything but missile shield and had a helluva time. I had a supercollider and Artificial Intelligence, you see, so I was basically having a ball. This was on East Indies, and first I stormed through Green's base, nuking a city first then just stomping up to it with tons of infantry and capturing it, since I had World Government. Finally got his capital... then it was me and Yellow against Purple. At first I tried the same strategy and made it a ways, but he had a HUUUGE navy, so all my guys got killed on the way to his capital... I had trouble deciding what to do for a while, but finally built up a huge fleet (or tried to... was running out of oil ) andsent it over to occupy him. Yellow caught the hint and sent most of his massive fleet over as well, and while they were occupied, I snuck about 60 Shock Troops and 30 Anti-Tanks across (I'm usually Russian), and while they were sneaking across I nuked his capital again. I lost most of my guys, but his fleets were too occupied blasting my ally's fleets out of the water... I finally won. Great game, but I was the only one nuking... probably because generally I'm the only one in the Information Age for about 20 minutes. Not this time, but still cool game. |

| Guest | Woo, just played a game on Moderate. I couldn't tell the difference between it and Easy. It was really cool, actually-- even though all the civs were random, we ended up as the Maya (me), Inca (my ally), Aztec, and Bantu (my enemies). So we were all the "savage" nations. It was cool. I kicked ass. It was pretty easy though. |
