Gamefaqs hasnt even been any help on this, but I'm trying everywhere I can think of:

Here's the situation:

I borrowed the CS disc from a friend, who doesn't need it to play on his pc, and he also burnt me Steam onto a disc.

From another kid who doesn't play CS anymore, I got a CD Key.

So I get home and try to install CS... nothing happens. I click on My Computer to click on the Cs icon and when I do my PC locks up and doesn't respond, and I either have to restart the PC or take the disc out. But get this, when I put the disc into my secondary drive, the one you'd normally burn Cds to, the CS screen pops up. I click "Install Counter-Strike" and then my PC locks up and doesnt respond.

*slams head on desk*

Same thing happens when I try to install steam, my PC locks up. HELP

Could be a bad drive. Do other CDs play OK in it?

Swamp- How is that not legal? It's not a burnt CS cd, and you download Steam for free anyway...

Other CDs play fine in it, music cds, other games, CDrw's, DVDs, everything works fine.

Either you've got a warped disc, its too scratched, or your cdrom drive/drivers are malfunctioning.
