I'm just starting to get an interest in it, and was looking for some good (read: balanced) characters to get. Anybody got any good resources? |

It's basically a freeware program like Fighter Maker for the PS2, except they're all 2d sprite-based, and made of win and awesome. |

| Forum Host | We have a Forum y'know. Anyway, I'm guessing the best way to get good (read:balanced) Characters is to ask what you mean? Is KoF Balanced? How about MVC? CVS? Melty Blood? Supermy-.....wait, no, that's wrong Does Difficult AI Unbalance a Character? How about having too many Supers? Combo Breakers? Parrying? We'll need specifics before coming with a final verdict. Also, always look up characters in Watch before playing against them, as you may accidentily get a cheap piece'a.....well you get the point. |

For instance, I saw a series of Mugen videos on YouTube in which Scorpion from MK was able to take on three Naruto characters in about five hits each. That's not balanced. Scorpion's power level was well above... well you get the picture. |

| Forum Host | I would say stay away from Melty Blood Character (Or those that say "Melty Blood Style") And go for Street Fighter and King of Fighter and thier variations (Like SVC, and (maybe?) Fatal Fury. Also watch out for sertain creators, like Actarus or Cannon Musume. Just make sure to read in between the lines, so you don't write a character off as cheap for being hard. |

How exactly does it work? What programming language(s) would you need to know to work with it? What all can you do with it? |

Since I think you have a Windows you may want to find WinMugen, and since this is not the MUGEN Primary Computer I'll just say to look up "Random Select", Look for Randomselect.ixcell.com, or something like that :/ The Programming language is basic, as in, TO PUT CHARACTERS IN JUST PUT THE NAME OF THE CHARACTER'S FOLDER IN A DOCUMENT THAT SAYS SELECT.DEF O_O. Basically, you'll know what something is with Fighter Factory and some common sense of what something is is you look hard enough at it. Basically, you can put anything with sprites in it, the NUMBER of Sprites going from 1 to 1465 (or more!). If you're good enough, you can make your own Sprites to put in. You can even put in your own Stages, Lifebars, Screenpack (Which is basically everything else) and the sounds. As well, as the other stuff like changing "10 hits" to "10 pimpslaps" All you need is lots of space on your computer, and lots of characters (trust me, I'd think of it as unusual if you found a virus looking for characters so those Foreign sites are fine). As well as lots of Stages and a Screenpack to hold them All. That's about it, other than you may want to look for a site to keep yourself updated. | |

There's a lot to consider when making their moves: How the character himself moves, where the impact point is, how much damage is done if the attack connects, what happens to the victim, and so on. What do you use to make all of that? |

| Heat-Seeking Pleasure Machine | MUGEN itself is obsolete and illegal to distribute, actually. Elecbyte has said they're making a new version, but there's been no word for 2 months or so. Mugen Fury - Créez votre propre jeu de combat 2d avec MUGEN for other, more updated ones. I am also making a 3D fighting game, and intend to stick to clean OO style internally ... I may release the engine at some point. __________________ Why is it drug addicts and computer afficionados are both called users? -Clifford Stoll |
