City of Heroes Questions

I just have a couple of questions because I'm thinking about buying the game. I just would like to know:

(1) If you get to choose your heroes super powers from a diverse list, not just bland cliche stuff (super speed, super strength, flight, ya get the drift)

(2) Is the character model cuztomization all its cracked up to be

(3) Is it pay to play

Now I hear about City of Villains though, so I may wait to see how that goes. Anyway, if you can answer the questions, or have the link to a site that does, it would be most appreciated if you answer.

Dunno about the two, but you do have to pay. That's why I didn't join.

1. It's a large, diverse list of bland cliched stuff. There are plenty of plans for updates & expansions for this game in the future & they'll no doubt include new powers

2. I suppose (I don't have this game either but I want it.)

3. $15 a month
