However, there's no monthly fee, so it's worth it. Otherwise... I dunno, if you're into MUDs, try Achaea. It's hard to find a good, fully free MMORPG, though. |

You can't interact with other players, but it's still loads of fun. Also, it's free, unless you want to become a Guardian. Being a Guardian is pretty much what being a Member on Runescape is, you could say. |

| Guest | Eh... I wouldn't really play the free ones... Some are alright but get boring after a while. Such as Guild Wars. The greatest MMORPG ever to be made is Ultima Online. It has a monthly cost but it is well worth it. It is based off the original Ultima series. Which is the grand daddy of RPGs. |

Seriously though, Guild Wars was alright during Beta, but it wasn't good enough for me to get it. I'm sure they fixed most of the problems from Beta, but still. | |

| Marshmallow Knight ☆ Supermod | If you're just looking for a list of online RPGs, I can mention Maple Story and Second Life. Kingdom of Loathing is good for a quick chuckle, but isn't a serious RPG. (err... search on Google for some more information about these games) |

I mean, the people at ANet worked on a lot of high-profile MMOs-- I believe WoW, UO, EQ, and others. It's not quite as immersive as WoW, I'm sure, but for people with no way of paying the fee, it's much better than any free game I've played before. Maple Story was okay. Kind of amusing. |

Amusing, as I said, especially if you have a friend or two to play with, but not all that great. And it randomly stopped working for me one day, and never worked again. |

If you get someone to play it with, definitely give it a shot; otherwise, it's up to you. Certainly can't hurt. (Unless you like... become addicted and withdraw from society. But that's unlikely. This isn't WoW.) |

Actually, PC gaming in general is dead. There's like 3 to 5 titles a year that are worth anything. If you can find anything, try the old Black Isle/Bioware titles. Baldur's Gate/Baldur's Gate II + expansions are excellent, as is Planescape: Torment. All of which should be bargain bin by now. There's always psuedo-RPGs like Diablo II and Dungeon Siege, where its more hack-and-slash style. Warcraft III had RPGish elements with the hero system, so that might be worth a pickup. But really, outside of those, I'm pretty tapped for a good, non-FPS PC title. In terms of MMORPGs, World of Warcraft is worth a playthrough, although its been getting on my nerves lately. Dungeons and Dragons Online looks decent, although who knows how much support it will get. City of Heros/Villains looks really good, but again, not sure on the community on those titles. |

If you're just looking for a PC RPG, Morrowind is my favorite game, even though it's probably three or four years old by now. I know Lurch doesn't like it as much as I do, but you might... then again, you may as well just wait a couple months for Oblivion. (www.elderscrolls.com for Oblivion info) |
