Surely Emerald is 3rd gen?

R/B/G/Y First Gen
G/S/C Second Gen
Ru/Sa/Em Third Gen
D/P/P Fourth Gen

also HG/SS are remakes of Second Gen, so logically the bosses should be the same on that.

The challenge really seems to decline through every generation.
I hope that they fix that in the next gen.

Really? 4th gen was the hardest, IMO. At least D/P, especially the leet four

Pearl was harder than Red or Blue, but that's the extent of my experience.

Eh, the entire game seems to get easier altogether for me, not just the E4. :/

It's because you will have more and more experience fighting in general.

It's not the game, it's you.

Wait, you think the 4th generation bosses are the easiest?

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH!!!

The easiest would be if I could just get one pokemon and then steamroll every boss. Period. In Generation 4, I actually had to use more than one pokemon because gym leaders and the l33t four would mix up their types and secondaries.

Meanwhile Generation 2....you can literally pick a totodile and just steamroll through the entire game. Hell, you can even steamroll through the game with a typhlosion even if you'll hit a few bumps along the way. The l33t four in G/S/C was easily farmable since they were only 40-50, and all you needed was a Feraligatr with ice punch to one-shot Lance. Meanwhile in FR/LG, you get the advanced l33t four after awhile and I hear the l33t four in D/P/Pt become stronger when you farm them.

in platinum, the E4 was even weaker than D/P (lvl wise at least)... and i know about feraligator, that's what i did a lot on G/S/C

jailbreaker might be right, it might just be me...

EDIT: and the E4 in D/P/Pt only get stronger after the national dex

I did this with Typlosion.

The actual challenge was Red anyway.

All of the games are easy, but G/S/C held the greatest in-game challenge. Red actually beat me down when I first challenged him. Also a very cool battle, my favorite.

But the best way to get a challenge is to play people. If you do things right, the games are just impossibly easy, what with Items, Legendaries and all.

I remember back when playing Crystal, I got my first Pokemon up to Level 100.
It was Typhlosion.
I remember using nothing but him, and then, nothing but Fire based attacks to power through Brock.

And despite getting "It's not very effective", still one-shotting all his pokemon.

Gone are the days where you actually had to switch out Pokemon to beat the Gym Leader.

^ Those days existed? I played through Yellow and always souped up Pikachu to murder Brock with ease. By time he was strong enough to do that, he would just walk right through the game, mostly.

Errrr I actually had to do that more in generation 4. Maybe once or twice in Generation 3 when they knew to send out the flying-pokemon when you're going through with a Blaziken, or when I didn't know that Sapphire ahd Team Aqua and I so happened to pick Torchic....

Crasher Wake sends out Gyarados!
Sim Kid sends out Luxray.
Luxray uses spark.
Gyarados: X_X
Crasher Wake is about to use Whishcash! Will Sim Kid change pokemon?
Yes. *Sends out Torterra*

Even in R/B/Y, which people consider the most difficult ones (partly cause nobody knew what to expect the first time through anyways), I steamrolled through with only one pokemon.

Eh, I'm playing through Platinum, and I've had to switch out plenty of times in Game.

Sim Kid's is a prime example of why.

As far as the first games' E4 being harder, I guess they just seem harder because of Level. :/.

Anyway, I haven't played the games in a while...

Did you, by any chance, start with Infernape?
