New Pokemon Game Announced for Japan

New Pokemon Game Announced for Japan

Quote:
Pokemon Heart Gold and Soul Silver have yet to hit the States, but they're already gearing up for the next DS installment of the monster hoarding series over in Japan. The official Japanese Pokemon website (via Serebii.net) broke the news this morning that a new Pokemon game is on the way in 2010.

Details are still scarce, but the announcement makes it relatively clear that this will be a continuation of the main Pokemon RPG series and not a spinoff like Pokemon Ranger or the Mystery Dungeon games. They also promise brand new Pokemon to capture, but that's pretty much a given.

Even if this currently unnamed Pokemon title hits Japan within the year, that doesn't necessarily mean we'll be seeing it in the U.S. anytime soon. The localization process for the series has historically resulted in a release gap of roughly six months or more between the Japanese and North American launches. So if you absolutely must catch them all in 2010, then you'd better warm up to importing.
I'm already falling behind.

The potential is there, I just hope they don't get lazy, gimmicky, or casual, as many Nintendo francises have. They got a good track record even in this gen so I ain't too scared.

So now there will be 600+ Pokemon? They already made the "God" of the Pokemon world, how much farther can they take it?

And what type of mineral are they planning on using this time? I thought they would have run out by now...

^ Topaz and Lapis Lazuli.

Not that most kids know what those are.

I would prefer Pokemon Earth and Sky.

They've got an entire chart of elements they can start with.

Pokemon Halite ftw.

Truthfully, most of the pokemon after #300 were redundant. If anything, they need to remove some.

New Pokémon RPG To Release This Year - News - GameInformer.com

Quote:
The Pokémon Company has announced that a new Pokémon RPG will release by the end of this year for the Nintendo DS. According to Bulbagarden, the title will be an "inventive rebirth" of the series, and the development team is "doing their best to exceed every Pokémon game before now."

Anyone else excited? The folks at Nintendo and Game Freak, who have released all past Pokémon games we know and love, are spearheading this project. Pokémon HeartGold and SoulSilver, remakes of Game Boy Color's Gold and Silver, will hit retail in March, and already a brand new title will drop by the end of 2010. No other details have been released.

There you have it Pokémon fans. What would you like to see in the latest installment?
"Inventive rebirth", huh? This could either go really well or really bad.

Generally, I'd like to see a new game style other than 'collect everything, use one pokemon to beat everyone, other players are dirty cheaters/have no life, hurl cartridge into landfill.'

As having played the series since its inception in the US, I can't help but be weary of how little it has changed, and how little it has dealt with issues of cheating and/or requiring entirely too much time.

Sort of odd, really. I yell at SEGA for changing Sonic... while I'm starting to get sick and tired of the same Pokemon rigamarole. Good or bad, let's hope it's something new that isn't a lame attempt like that blase` Pokemon Colosseum RPG.

^Thing is, most people have very similar idea of what they want with this series: a 3D Pokemon RPG, possibly with more action-control in battle. Nintendo just hasn't made it yet.
On the other hand, people have a very clear idea of what they don't want in a Sonic game: more characters, glitching, treasure hunting, "mach speed," cruddy cameras, etc. Sega just keeps making that stuff.

And remember, "I'm-a Charizard, number, well, six."

Coloseum was decent in my oppinion, atleast the Darker and edgier approach but due to the same logic in the GC game and the Other pocket games, things started to get silly.

If they managed to do something like the Pokemon special i think that it could work, if someone remember those cool pokemon Tshirts they released a while ago i would take those as evidence that they might go once again for the Darker and edgier Approach.

If not i don't think that you could screw the franchise up to much, the biggest game of Horsehokey they can do now is to make the scripters for the anime will say who Ash could or is in love with.

Whatever happends there will be ****storms all over the Japanese game corporation known as Nintendo, when 'Pokeshippers, Advanceshippers and whetever more shippers will say: NO FRIGGEN WAY.

In wish case i will for now lean back and have some hotdogs in case of flaming and some softdrinks.
