| Junior Member Join Date: Mar 2009 Gender: Posts: 431 Thanks: 4 Thanked 20 Times in 15 Posts | Is the original R/B/Y/G/S/C now non-canon? I am just curious if the story and games as they were told in the original Red/Blue/Yellow/Gold/Silver/Crystal are now considered non-canon with Ruby/Sapphire/Emerald/Diamond/Pearl/Platinum since the re-releases of LeafGreen/FireRed/HeartGold/SoulSilver. I mean the new LG/FR/HG/SS are basically a retelling of the same story, but brought up to date with the new generations and tactics that were not shown in their original releases. So the question is, since the stories have now been retold, does this mean that the original games are now non-canon with the newer games, and the new releases are considered what really happened according to Nintendo? |

Or is LeafGreen/FireRed/HeartGold/SoulSilver now their own canon seperate from the other games? Although that doesn't seem to make sense, since Ruby/Sappire/Diamond/Pearl/Platinum are all compatible with each other and LG/FR/HG/SS. |

Beyond that though, its hard to really put Ruby/Sapphire or Diamon/Pearl in any timeline, they could pretty much stand alone I suppose, with their distance from the other regions. |

Unless these games change something stated in the original game, the original games are still canon while the remakes are more like alternate canon unless proof is made otherwise. |

This means it does not matter if G/S/C is canon or not, HG/SS is the same thing with added (irrelevant to original story) stuff. |

R/B/Y->G/S/C->R/S/E->D/P/P->EoP->TIMELOOP->FR/LG, because of some changes caused by people having deja vu, or because of other causes->HG/SS |

Like, a new trainer comes from the old regions and goes on the age-old quest to catch 'em all? So, basically, HG/SS takes place at the same time or after D/P, and FR/LG takes place during R/S/E. That's my theory at least. |

It's like wondering if Metroid Zero Mission makes the original non-canon. They're both so similar that one can not knock the other out of continuity, mostly because they're the same story. |
