I don't remember if the winning Pokemon was a Pinsir or a Scyther. I think it was the latter. Haha. Not that it matters. I have a yellow Caterpie.

I ran into a shiny Jynx one time on an emulator and failed to catch it, but can't recall if I ever legitimately caught a shiny aside from Gyarados.

Ironically, I caught a shiny Yellow Caterpie from the bug catching contest back in the original Gold.

Maybe it's more probable to catch it there than anywhere else.

I ran into a shiny Donphan once in the original Silver in Mt. Silver, but I didn't know what shinys were back then and I made it faint, then bought some balls and went to find it again. I never did see it.
