Nuzlocke Emerald - VGF Edition

Oh look Loot's making another LP well let's get this over with.

For those who just happen to be unfamiliar with Nuzlocke, the rules are

1) Catch only the first Pokemon you encounter in each area
2) Fainted Pokemon are dead, and must be released

Let's do it.

You awaken in a moving truck. Clearly the safest place for a growing boy.

Current quest: Find Birch, obtain Pokemon, become alpha male.

CAN'T SEE **** WITHOUT MOVING AHEAD TWELVE FEET, CAPTAIN

Best way to open up a Pokemon game, with the expert being chased by the Rattata of the game. Sigh.

Time to do this, choose the starter, and we'll go from there.

Torchic, an excellent suggestion

Battle went smoothly, shame it's Growl, though. Kinda useless, but good for taking the hits when unable to deal them.

Well, it only fits that this little thing be named the one name that fits it

Marilink.

And this is the first battle. I have a bad feeling about what's going to be my first catch.

Unlike the screen shots, I'll be seeing this area a few hundred more times.

Ah, our first trainer battle! Will May provide a close battle? Well, closer than those Wingulls using Water Gun? Will I risk everything in this first rival match?

EASY MODE: ACTIVATED

Well, not really. Ralts starts off with just Growl, which is barely a step up from Magikarp. Oh well, a Psychic Pokemon this early is always nice. Anyway, named it CL.

Not pictured: Ace Trainer Hobbes. Went down in three turns.

GRINDING TIME

Made it to Petalburg already. Looks like a good time to take a break.

Caught my next Pokemon, a Poochyena. Damn, no water types. Oh well, we'll make do. Now, seeing as this is a female dog, it's rather appropriate what to name it.

HotD has been very helpful lately. Her attacks aren't the greatest but she manages to hold her own. Well, until this battle.

Got critted, had to switch to Marilink, couldn't risk it.

But oh well, HotD proved her usefulness once more by finding a nice number of repels as well as an Ultra Ball.

This battle SUCKED. A level 9 Poochyena nearly took out both Panfan and HotD. Had to get Marilink in before the Poochyena Howled up to max Attack. But all is well, our team is victorious today!

Oh, good, an actual water type, now we have some diversity in our team. Welcome aboard, TG.

No deaths, full party, we're rockin' this **** up.

One thing that bugged me about early RSE is that the path to the forest has a bunch of grass spots, and in order to go back to a Pokemon Center you had to either trek back through the encounters or risk the trainer battles.

Speaking of which, OUR FIRST DOUBLE

Yes, I am so glad Pokemon games make you fight LITTLE KIDS. And then steal their lunch money. Family friendly!

Yes, Marilink, you're overpowered. However, plenty of grinding turned the tables, as TG is now the highest level. Which is good.

First two Geodudes went down faster than... well, two Geodudes facing a Water Pokemon.

One berry and two Potions later, I managed to knock it down to this sliver of HP. Annoying. But, hey, gym cleared! Yes, Nosepass would usually wreck my ****, but Marill's high defense (And a surprising lack of Rock Tomb) dominated this battle.

Both CL and Panny had a bit of a close call with this one. BUT I PREVAILED. Because the owner used a Full Restore. Yes, a Full Restore on a level goddamn 8 Pokemon. I'M RICH, THAT DON'T MEAN SMART.

By the way, I'm following a plot, if I didn't tell ya guys. Man, sailing's awesome and all, but asking a kid to do all this delivery not just because he drove off some Aqua members, but most likely because I'll HAVE to drive off more, THAT'S NUTS MAN. THAT'S NUTS.
