I want to know why Bin Laden's family was apparently flown out of America while entire airlines were shut down during 9/11.

As for Ray Bradbury... well, I;d be pissed to if someone stile a cleevr title for my book for some piece of **** movie.

It was to keep them safe. Bin Laden's family doesn't like him, and he is considered an outcast. But, because people don't always look into the facts, it would be a huge danger for them to be in America.

Then Moore really is an idiot... although that does not raise my opinion of Bush any.

Err... lots of typos in my last post... 8O

I wouldn't count that as 'theft.' It's a reference. It kind of makes sense for the title of Michael Moore's anti-establishment documentary to have a title referring to a book about censorship. I find it very surprising that Ray Bradbury would really care.

Ray Bradbury can be pissed as hell about whatever the hell he wants. He's the science fiction godfather. Period. Isaac Asimov aside he's probably solely responsible for the current state of science fiction. If he wants to be pissed about a parody of what is arguably his single most famous work then let him be pissed.

I'd be able to take Moore more seriously if he didn't openly try to be so damn controversial. The integrity of what he's doing is undermined by the fact that he's turning his would-be documentaries into a circus, actually selling out to sensationalism. Stickign more closely to the facts and being a bit more tight-fisted on the spin he puts on things (Bowling for Columbine gave me a headache on several levels) would make him more believable, but as it is...eh. I'll stick to Peter Parker 2, thank you.

The title makes sense; the filmmaker doesn't.

Yeah, Al Franken's pretty cool. Ben Stein, too.
Hey, did anyone see when they played Yambo against each other?

And remember, "I'm-a Luigi, number one!"

No, but I saw that Yahoo commercial where they made fun of Democrats/republicans.

Like I said, Ray Bradbury didn't invent the word "FAHRENHEIT." I don't give a damn what he wrote, and the Martian Chronicles almost put me to sleep.

^Oh shut up with your Fahrenheit crap. Moore's title is an open parody of his.

AND OMG WYBORN WHERE THE HELL HAVE YOU BEEN.

Hey, before anyone continues to go off on Ray Bradbury, can someone post a link which actually says that he's pissed at Moore? Personally, I doubt that Ray Bradbury even cares. I mean, we're all going off on this just because L47 said so. I think someone needs a source before you continue.-jay

I just put in "Ray Bradbury" in google news and I found tons of pages about it.

"Stole"? Give me a break. Parody isn't the same as "stealing."

Michael Moore's point with shipping out the Bin Laden family isn't that the Bushes have ties to Osama. That would just be silly. What he's saying (as he said in today's Daily Show) is that Bush has strong ties with Saudi Arabia despite their ties with terrorism.

I'd like to know exactly how much the Saudi government actually supports terrorism, and how much of it is due to support in the countryside and with certain members of the royal family.

They say they're giving terrorists a chance to 'turn themselves in' before 'coming down hard on them.'

Heh, we'll see, but as Reagan quoted: "Trust, but verify."

Frankly, if they really did come down hard on terrorists, we wouldn't see supporters turning themselves in. We'd see them running like Hades.

^How do you figure that last part?

I saw Moore on the Daily Show, and he was much different than I expected. He knew how crazy he was, and made it pretty clear what was fact and what his opinions were.

I dunno. Maybe because in a Saudi prison, they don't actually provide you with any food, water, or security, and that any protection you get comes directly from your family, or you die?

Or also that in Saudi Arabia, it wouldn't make news if they suddenly 'decided' that someone who had been supporting terrorists might have some information, and then it's So This Is The Inside of A Torture Chamber.

[Spoilers (sort of)]

Saw it earlier today. My opinion was in many ways what I expected it to be. The point it made- how 9/11 and the threat of terrorismhas been used to instill fear and obedience in the American citizens- was good, but the tactics used to persuade people were often bad. I'd recommend seeing this movie, so long as you take a somewhat skeptical approach.

My biggest problem with this movie, though, was the fact that it was really hard to watch. There was blood and gore, but there was also a lot of extreme closeups on ugly people. Sounds crude, I know, but you'll see what I mean. There was also a lot of grainy footage from an unstable camera that made my head reel and my eyes squint. I would actually have preferred to see this on DVD.

As with Bowling for Columbine, this movie is also very funny sometimes. Particularly when Moore is reflecting on how even small, unimportant US towns came to believe that they might be targetted by terrorists. When asked what the most likely target in their town would be, the answers were pretty pathetic, particularly the most common one- "Wal Mart."
