offensive simpsons episode - VGF

i find the episode "father, the son and the holy guest star" is very offencive to catholics and heres my reasons,

.they think we like to beat up people witch can't be true cause jeasus tells us not to be violent and forgive.

.they think all irish people are catholic witch is not true but i, ummmmmm, come from irish ancestores .

but what do you think?

Doesn't sound as bad as that episode where Patti comes out of the closet. That in itself wasn't offensive so much as it was a cop-out episode idea, but that scene where Homer makes out with himself and has a bunch of kids offended all my senses, except maybe smell.

^Seriously. I think Catholics should be offended with the fact that they broke off from regular Christianity, but classify themselves as Christians.

EDIT: Sorry for the rant, but I've been fairly dispositioned from most religions other than being Agnostic for a while. I don't mean to offend, most of the time.

Really? Not all Irish people are Catholic? I would never have guessed, what with the CIVIL WAR and all that. The centuries of religious conflicts are normally a bit of a tip off. ¬_¬

I thought the point of that episode was to demonstrate the stupidity of fighting over religion. But it's been ages since I saw it.

Anglicans. Henry VIII. Another branch of Protestantism, although at first they weren't much different than Catholics ("Catholicism without the pope"). That changed later, and they became more like Lutherans and other Protestants.

...isn't it common knowledge that Protestants broke off from Catholics? Am I missing something?
