| Guest | When is it acceptable to kill a human being? There are a few cases which have been thrown around quite a bit. When the human being is threatening your life, during war, and when the human being has committed a very serious crime. But are these valid excuses? Can killing ever be acceptable? |

| Guest | Yes. And I consider there to be many more examples then just that. As an example, ever seen the movie "A Time To Kill"? In that movie a black man kills two white men that raped and damn near killed one of his daughters. I find that perfectly acceptable. The law, however does not. Now, I won't go as far to say that certain people deserve to die, because...in the words of Gandalf, many people who live deserve death, many people that die deserve life...are you willing to decide the difference? It's a complicated issue I guess. I find it acceptable in certain situations, but i'll never go as far to say anybody deserves it. [ May 13, 2004, 01:42 AM: Message edited by: Metalhead 212-DBZM ] |

| Guest | WEll depends, I mean, self-defense, if someone is about to kill you and the only way for you to get out is for a drastic measure, you should be excused, war, I dont know, never expeirienced it, never want to, I've been called "anti-american" and such by these rednecks and all but, I am not giving my life for a country that has done little for me, sure I'm "free" but what does that really mean, what odes the government mean by "free" what to they mean by "equality" wheen there is so much discrimination, anyway, back to the topic. Someone who murdered someone else, purposely, should just rot in prison, let them die alone. |

| Guest | I don't think people have the right to kill one another. Unfortunately it doesn't always work out like that. You should defend yourself if attacked. I really don't think war is good (some cases it's the best option or has good results in the end though) And i could never fight in a war, nor would I ever want to. |

I know that if some massive stranger broke into my house at night and tried to carry me off, I'd try to break his neck, and probably without particularly caring at the moment whether he lived or died. To say "war is good" or "war is bad" is unfair either way. Each war is fought for a different cause and handled differently from the rest. Some, I believe, have been more morally acceptable than others. I do support our current one, though. [ May 12, 2004, 09:57 PM: Message edited by: Juliet ] |

| Guest | WEll believe it or not, that is how some people, (me, Damon, Cornell, and Ollie is crazy so I don't know bout him) actually believe that, WOAH! Just cause that is not your situation, doesnt give you the right to be a **** about it. So if you don't like that reason "blow it out ya ass" |

My policy on people who try to kill me is that they will die (or maybe be maimed). Death penalty, how often have they found that someone who was executed was innocent? In war, yes it is fine because if you don't fight back then you will die and whoever killed you probably won't give a damn about it. On the other hand, I believe you do have the right to defend yourself against those who want to kill you OR somebody else, and that includes killing the attacker first. War is a tricky thing. There are deaths that fit under my definition, and most certainly are justified, and deaths that do not. Fortunately, we are the sort of nation where most of ours do fit. War as a whole cannot be judged on the rightness or wrongness of killing in general, but any war is fine where you're killing those who'd want to kill you or others without provocation. There are murderous people out there, and they all have to be stopped. You can probably guess where I stand on our War Against Terror, and on a smaller detail, on our actions in Iraq. |

I myself am with the death penalty, if someone kills my friends or parents or brother, I would want their ass in an electric chair, no further questions! _________________________________________________ But before I go, remember this...
