Basically, things are patterns, right? That is, the stuff we learn? It's made up of vocabulary, words, ideas, and how they're organized. So on a more basic level, our bodies are patterns too. Patterns of tissues, which are patterns of cells, etc...... Those, in turn, are a pattern of atoms. If you understand this far, then you can probably see where I'm going with this. At the big bang, the first patterns emerged, such as the basic laws (gravity, etc.) and from that emerged the first atoms... which created the first molecules. In turn, the first solids/groups of molecules formed. In turn, space itself was formed by these floating inside the plane with the forces and coalescing into larger patterns of dust... making galaxies. Inside them, more of it coalesced to make solar systems, suns, right? And then planets formed. On this planet in particular, life evolved by these atoms and 'star bits' (etc.) This life, in turn, reproduced, and only the most successful patterns of life survived to reproduce (evolution). Intelligence being a part of these; for example, an elephant can learn to paint. That is a pattern of movement with an object held. Humans arose from animals because in their situation, one of the worst an animal can have (surrounded by predators, no real advantages sans perhaps sight) they adapted by learning patterns faster than the other animals. Eventually they learned the very process of learning patterns, Thus they directed what they knew instead of it being directly what happened and who reproduced. This in turn led to learning how to keep the knowledge, first in speech, then in writing. The tools continued to coalesce into greater patterns made up of, of course, tons of tools. We are now working on A.I., which is in truth a tool capable of learning and knowing patterns itself, continuing the cycle. Thus the pattern-creating goes on forever! Additionally, like real numbers, if we posit the big bang is '0', and our time is positive (time measuring the creation and coalescing of more and more patterns) then we can posit, potentially, a negative universe where time goes the other way (as we know (I think) that equations for time affecting atoms work the same way forwards and backwards) which may in turn be composed of antimatter (I dunno) Hence you can break down anything into basic patterns; furthermore, if you know the first pattern, then you can deduce the next ones. (After all, aren't we made of the simpler atoms, molecules, and other things, just with a new pattern atop it?) Many more things arise from this, but I am exhausted from writing it. @_@ |
