| Senior Member | We recently got a bunch of hate mail for showing a video on youtube. Moses in the projects. We posted it a while ago, and recently put it up on VGF. But for some reason now we are getting hate mail about it. Do you guys think videos such as these are really all that bad and that me and my friends should take this down? (some of these are from religious groups) | ||

| Senior Member | I know the video was poorly. You should also know that a high quality version is not currently available on youtube because it was put up before that was available. It's not under my production team but I was involved with it in terms of letting them borrow my software. But the hatemail was in reference to making fun of Moses. Can we discuss this in terms of the religious aspect instead of the quality of the video? Also, two years ago we received hate mail for the Al Qaeda video because "we disrespected the victims of 9/11". Oh and for the record here is my quality. That's not really that hard, most cameras/video recorders even have one-button presets. Showing that you can't fix a simple white balance issue so it doesn't bleach out the picture and burn your viewers retnas out doesn't say much on your abilities. I've had things published that get that many hits in the span of a week. What's your point. Youtube = the livejournal of multimedia. Yep, you're on the Internet. Too bad you're sandwiched between fartjokes, rickrolls, and reactions to 2g1c. |

It's illegal to reproduce footage like that without giving credit to whomever originally shot it. I'm a journalism student, I know the rules, and you're an idiot. There. Politics and Philosophy. "Moses in the Projects" is just ridiculous. Its quality overshadows its "religious" undertones so much that it's nearly impossible to focus on whatever story you've told. You and your friends are horrible actors and horrible storytellers. The overall quality of your little project is the real problem: You've turned the story into a joke. There. Religion. Not only that, but your stupid little al-Qaeda video was disrespectful. You treated every attack very lightheartedly, using Legos and toy boats while you and your bonehead friends sat in the background going "PEW PEW." I can't possibly grasp how you guys expect anyone to take your "reports" seriously. You're an idiot. Anyone ballsy enough to associate themselves with you is an idiot. EDIT: Quote:

Then I tried again, and facepalmed at the girl saying "wassup my brotha" because I assumed she was going to be annoying the entire movie, so I exited out. #3: 3 minutes in, facepalmed at bad acting and left. First of all, follow Lurch's advice of using a white balance. Also, step up your sound editing game! Getting Soundscrub or something like that could remove the extraneous noises from the other students making noise in the background. Having a still camera sitting on a tripod is acceptable, but it's not going to make up for your piss-poor cinematography in your other videos. It does not impress me visually. As far as video editing goes, if you really want to impress people with your documentary, the interviewer should not appear in the video at all, and neither should his voice. Also, having sound clips of the interview being played over video clips of the game would certainly add to the level of interest. Some of the transitions are very amateurish. Seriously, just use the invisible cut. And if you want to look professional, NEVER RECORD SOUND ON THE CAMERA'S BUILT-IN MICROPHONE. A boom and a decent microphone can be purchased for a good price, along with the smaller, more convenient microphones that can be attached to the actor. People search for WoW and Anime videos more than something that takes REAL talent, like a wildlife video. The acting in some of these videos is horiffic, and before you say something like "Why don't you try and act then", I've performed with an acting group, and I still do on a regular basis, I already have a college level (AS) in acting which was an A, 100%, and I've been on TV on multiple occasions. The sound quality needs ALOT of work, as Bomby said, don't use the built in Microphone. Last but not least, people are sensitive about religion and stuff, remember that next time. >.< Quote:
