Makes McCain seem like he's not clawing at the past while tempting Hillary supporters to jump off the Obama wagon. |

Inexperienced governor who got elected by beating someone that a plastic grocery bag could have beaten in the middle of an abuse of power scandal. Should have went with someone that could help carry a battleground state instead of pandering to Hillary voters that likely won't shift over to the GOP to begin with. |

Is John McCain: A) Screwing with the heads of of the strawman-feminists & strawman-PCists, which would be really cool if this is his intent B) Buying himself Alaska to cancel out Obama's Hawaii, having become too senile to notice that no election has ever hinged on either of those states C) Trying to distance himself from some of the attack ads he's run by cutting off his own "experience" argument D) Attempting to make the elephants look more progressive to Joe Everyman E) All of the above The answer when we come back from this message. Don't liek this pick, it's a high risk/high reward for him, that'll probably just end up a failure

Here's a candidate with even less experience than Obama, and yet because she's a woman, people are stopping to take pause. It's kind of insulting...she's NOTHING like Hilary: staunchly anti-abortion, staunchly conservative, but she will appeal to mothers and married women on the fringe not knowing who they'll vote for yet. This pick is basically a gambit to try to woo female voters and feminists - "Oh look, we picked a woman, the glass ceiling will be shattered teh yayz!" Please. So, had Hilary won the nomination, which black man would McCain have picked? >_> |

Gender: Posts: 9,544 Thanks: 175 Thanked 150 Times in 120 Posts | So if the republicans run a minority group its because they're trying to sucker the nation into voting for them, yet if the Demicrats do its the most advanced thing this side of the Civil rights Act? Also how does this take experence out of the debate? The top ticket is between Obama and McCain not Obama and Palin. I'm still undeced really witch gun do I use to shoot myself with the Semi auto with the Obama Bullet or the Colt peacemaker known as McCain? - You stupid dog! |

What we need is a leader along the lines of FDR someone who will think in the long term who will what's best for Amarica not what's best for his/her political party. I have no trust in either Obama or McCain. Neither seem likely to put aside any mistrust they have with the opposing party and simply work to better the nation not advance a polical idealology that is only going to end up replacing one set of problems with another. So I'm just going to wait for the USA to destory itself most likely in a manner reminicent of Rome. - You stupid dog! |

| Senior Member | Let's see...McCain only met her once before choosing her. She is a member of the National Gun and Rifle Association. She is Pro-Life to the point that if it would kill the mother she would rather the mother die. She is a woman. Seems like McCain found the textbook republican. She's inexperienced as well. Didn't McCain bomb Obama for being inexperienced? This seems a bit hypocritical. |

Had it been a more worthy female candidate, it wouldn't be an issue... but here's a candidate whom he'd only met with ONCE prior, had only spoken to ONCE on the phone before the announcement, who has even LESS experience than Obama. She has "executive experience", but not much of it; it's a gambit pick. (Him picking Condi Rice would have been a much better, more solid choice, with ten times the result. However, I digress.) In terms of the whole "experience" issue, McCain has shot himself in the foot. If Obama is fine and healthy, he has the guidance and counsel of Biden; McCain can rely on himself for the "experience." HOWEVER, if something happens to Obama, Biden EASILY fills the gap. If the reverse happens and McCain is out of commission, the same is not true - Palin doesn't have the credentials to fill in as Biden would. THAT's where the experience argument is shot.

Moore/Alexander '08!!! I'm a Socialist but I'm also practical. Obama has my vote. The choice of Palin as McCain's VP running mate makes me want to get the Republican party out of the presidential office even more than I did before. |
