We talked about it in Marketing. This is just ridiculous.

The total loss in the market today was about 1 trillion.

If we had passed the bill, it would have cost 700 billion.

This bailout needs to happen irrespective of what the GOP members of the House want to do to stay elected. If we can't stabilize the banking system, expand it to match the size of the economy, and allow banks to start lending to one another again, this could potentially turn into a massive nationwide banking failure. Then we'd really be up the creek sans paddle.

I get really frustrated when things like this happen, because what causes stocks to fall? Too many people selling at once. What causes too many people to sell at once? Greed-driven panic. The symptom causes the disease. It's stupid.

And remember, "I'm-a Luigi, number one!"

In other news, the Dow continued it's trip to infinity and beyond today, ending up somewhere around 9400. It's gone down 32 percent in the last 52 weeks. All our debt is currently overseas. The economy gets a big thumbs down.
