Do you think cannabis should be legalized? Specifically, I'm talking about in the U.S., where cannabis and it's derivatives (hemp, marijuana) are illegal to possess in any case, but don't be afraid to speak from a larger point of view. Share your point of view, and if possible, make an argument for your case. To me, this is one of those issues I don't have a strong stance in either way. Both sides have their strong points and drawbacks, so at this point I don't care too much either way, although I would probably prefer decriminalization in the States over complete legalization or illegalization. Vote and post. |

Also, when I opened this topic, and saw "cannabis" I thought you wanted to legalize cannabalism. |

What happens after that, I really couldn't care less about. Come to think about it, I've become extremely apathetic lately. |

You outlaw eating and you'd have alot more eating that even before, the same concept applies here. Just without any danger, and more knowledge. Legalizing it would do nothing but make things better, seeing as we could use the funding we give law enforcement to crack down on the growers of cannabis to the places it really needs to grow, and as many people do it regardless the shops that would open up would only make the economy prosper. |

Lowering the legal drinking age would only encourage drunk driving in the youth while making it easy to annihilate their livers. No responsible adult would be for that idea, IMO. Of course, most minors will drink anyway but it's the principal of the matter really. |

It'll have the positive effect of freeing up courts and jails and is unlikely to have much more of a negative effect than it already does. |

Have you heard the expression "Smoke a joint"? Read up here :Joint (cannabis) - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia I don't have a strong opinion either way,but I do think that allowing it medically is fine. Still unsure of home use though.:/ Last edited by Vgfian; 02-12-2009 at 09:46 PM. Reason: spellleng erer |

Anyway, I find it hilarious how non-smokers pretend to be totally savvy about the pot culture. Most of these people have never been around pot smokers and base all their knowledge off those ridiculous "Above the Influence" commercials. Smoking pot is no worse, if not better, than drinking. I'm willing to say the effects of alcohol have killed far more people than the effects of marijuana. Legalize it. |

2) Countries where the drinking age is lower actually have less problems with underage drinking; kids enjoy doing what they aren't supposed to be doing. Lowering the drinking age would likely have the effect of making less kids drink. Besides, driving drunk is illegal at any age; it would be encouraged no more than it already is. I'm not even going to get into the issue of by the time you're 18, you can go fight in a war and die for your country, but you can't enjoy a beer. >_> Anyway, legalize and regulate it. It's not for me, but it's not actually as harmful as everyone likes to make it out to be. | |
