President Obama's First 100 Days

With the new U.S. president's first 100 days to wrap up this Wednesday, I wanted to ask VGF what they thought about his job so far.

Personally, I'm mostly satisfied with what he'd gotten done this far. He's had some good domestic policies thus far, and he's done a really good job reaching out to other countries and repairing international ties. I would gripe that "bipartisanism" hasn't really turned out that well, and the real effects of the stimulus plan remain to be seen, but all in all I'd give Obama a B for his first 100 days.

Share your opinion.

B. He really needs to work with the Senate commission so all the Treasury applicants stop getting rejected/pulling out. Other than that, I liked most of his policies.

Well, the country certainly hasn't imploded as the Conservatives would have liked us to believe it was going to.

I think he's doing a decent job. I'd say B as well.

B.

Hasn't done the Bipartisanship he said he would participate in, and has sometimes folded too his own side WAY too easily.

At the same time, people forget the first 100 is supposed to be about molding into the role, people have been trying to knock everything about him.

Also, the effects of this stimulus package probably won't start to show up until late this year, early next year.

Maybe it's just because I haven't really been politically unaware up until this point of my life, but damn, it seems like there's a constant firestorm about every single action he takes - not a single conservative has anything good to say, and it just seems petty to me. Maybe this is how politics really is, and the losing side does nothing but gripe. If that's the case, wow, how sad for our country that grown adults can't find ways to compromise and act like, well, adults.

Adults have never, not once, ever in history, acted like adults.

I give him a C, probably the highest I have ever thought of a president.
I see where this is going, and I like it, but I want to see more before I can give him a good or bad score.

I also give him a B. I don't think I can ever give a president an A because the president would have to be a dream president for that. The problem is there will always be liberals who want to spend on organizations I don't like (in addition to smart spending), and there will be conservatives who are idealogues living in their own little fantasy world where it's good for the rich to pay less in taxes than I do. Usually liberals average around a B- C+ for me, and conservatives average a D-.

But Obama has different priorities. He understands what we have to do to fix the economy (infrastructure and back-to-basics). And he wants to make healthcare more affordable for people like me. And he wants to protect the environment and end corporate tax loopholes, all issues I care about deeply.

A lot of what Obama needs to do is being blocked by Republicans in congress, who seem to tilt further and further to the right every day and they're the main reason Obama can't be bipartisan: because they won't listen to him. -CSM

It's just the nature of the stupid game. It's not that they're blocking each other's plans because they can't act like adults, they're really acting like adult human beings: greedy and selfish.

All each party wants (for the most part, there are plenty exceptions) is for their agenda to cross, no matter how good the other side's agenda may be, if it opposes theirs, they don't want it.

Higher taxes for the rich? How dare he! I mean, I tell other people all the time to support their country and give what they can, but when the tables are turned on me, I flip out and call him a communist! He's trying to help out American's who earn less than 6 figures a year? HOW DARE HE!

Now this goes for both sides, off the top, I can't think of a recent incident where the left has done such, and that may be just because I lean left a little, but who knows.

As far as ideology goes, the Republican party does not have a bad ideology, they just don't practice their ways.

By that definition, Warren G Harding and Henry Harrison are excellent presidents.

higher taxes to the rich and putting large tariffs on things like tea and paper as well as letting soldiers waltz into your house anytime they want to crash: EXACTLY THE SAME THING

its partly because the GOP turned into a gibbering pile of lovecraftian madness after the election and basically gets farther and farther right everyday.

Its partly because this was like the biggest election in a few years so everyone is paying attention.

Its partly that this happens with every president, they just lack the same scale because its missing parts one and two

Almost all of my information comes from the Sean Hannity Show, and obviously Obama is completely annihilating our country. But he's obviously biased so it can't be that bad, but I know he's messing up. I give him a D.

Hannity is beyond biased. Grading Obama using information only from him makes about as much sense as grading Hindus using only information from Pakistani Muslims - you're getting a lot of hate and very little accurate information.
