"Liberty" University bans college Democrats

So this is the conservatives' idea of "academic freedom?" If this were, say, NYU and it banned the college Republicans, the right wing would come down HARD proclaiming censorship (and rightly so).

Here is the text of the email sent to the guy who runs the Liberty Democrats.

Quote:
Even though this club may not support the more radical planks of the democratic party, the democratic party is still the parent organization of the club on campus. The Democratic Party Platform is contrary to the mission of LU and to Christian doctrine (supports abortion, federal funding of abortion, advocates repeal of the federal Defense of Marriage Act, promotes the "LGBT" agenda, Hate Crimes, which include sexual orientation and gender identity, socialism, etc). The candidates this club supports uphold the Platform and implement it. The candidates supported are directly contrary to the mission of LU. By using LU or Liberty University and Democrat in the name, the two are associated and the goals of both run in opposite directions.
What about the Christian Doctrine which opposes the Death Penalty (or at least trigger-happy cowboyism like use of it), war profiteering (those of you who oppose abortion as an "intrinsic evil" should consider this act to be just as intrinsically evil), and supports free healthcare for innocent children who are born at the very least (in fact, some hope babies of promiscuous mothers should be born with (and die of) AIDS as an "object of lesson" to the mother), support more sustainable energy policies, supports the ending of genocide in places like Darfur, etc. -CSM

Do I get to ask why liberal democrats are attending Jerry Falwell's fundamentalist Christian university in the first place, or is context unwelcome here?

Maybe ones that oppose abortion and gay marriage, but also support the entire rest of the Christian doctrine outside sexual issues (which just happens to be on the liberal democratic side). -CSM

Not in the minds of these folks. Rather than "Love thy neighbor," it was more like "Love thy neighbor, but only if he does what you want him to." Or maybe even more like "Screw those guys if they can't support themselves independently."

Jesus was a don't-be-a-douchebag-ist, a philosophy which, if everyone followed it, would result in the wild success of communism, socialism, capitalism, imperialism, democracy, oligarchy, monarchy, anarchy, & any other possible sociological, economic, or socio-economic system you can think of.

And remember, "I'm-a Luigi, number one!"

Why is it that conservatives are under the delusional belief that everything they say is right?

Probably still upset that McCain lost....

^LOL, I have no idea. But one thing they do want to do is get rid of the adultress story because it can be interpreted as an anti-death penalty stance. -CSM

"behemoth"
Job 40:15-24
Although evolutionists deny that men and dinosaurs coexisted, they are unable to provide proof of such a hypothesis. It is probable that the 'behemoth' was what we now call a dinosaur.

replace "behemoth" with "dinosaur"
quote:
"kill" "Thou shalt not kill"
Exodus 20.13 (KJV)

In Biblical times, as today, the bearing of arms to defend ones family and society was the hallmark of Judeo-Christian civilization. The commandment referred to unjustifiable homicides - murder and manslaughter - rather than advocating blanket pacifism, as many Leftists today interpret it.

replace "kill" with "commit murder" depending on the original text and the context - it'd not be sensible to use murder in the context of an animal doing it, for instance!

quote:

"It is easier for a camel to pass through the eye of a needle, than for a rich man to enter into the kingdom of heaven" (Matthew 19:24)

nearly everyone is "abundantly supplied" today with food and entertainment, and "rich" has come to mean relative wealth without any absolute significance; continued use of "rich" is misleading in justifying laziness and socialism

"fully fed and entertained" or "idle miser," or something similar.
these are all from conservapedia

also i like how "everyone" means "americans" in that last one

edit: reminder that jesus was black

^Actually, that's been the basic interpretation of "Don't kill" for a long time, even as far back as the Old Testament and the reconquering of the Holy Land.

As per the main topic:

The only surprise is that it took them this long to do this. They probably don't have a GLBT group on campus either, and I doubt their law school has PILG, an ACLU or the NLG.

^^ I rage every time a conservative claims there's anything less than a multitude of evidence supporting evolution. They have to be either lying or ignoring it.

They just twist it. They take one instance where radioactive dating was wrong and claim it means all of it is wrong. They originally claimed dinosaur skeletons were made from pig bones (not kidding), now claim that the early human skeletons were made from pig bones (also not kidding). They claim that aquatic fossils that appear to have been killed suddenly are proof of the flood, etc.

The stuff they twist to explain dinosaurs is the worst. Every time another fossil turns up to shoot down their last "theory" they just come up with another one that ignores a little more evidence and logic than the last.
