Video - Obama admin bans press from filming BP oil spill areas in the Gulf - White House The first 3 minutes or so are really all you need to get the story. The video contains a LOT more commentary than actual factual information, but that information made me WTF hard. Thoughts? Ideas as to why banning the media in a disaster area everyone is concerned about is a good idea? |

Though I'm sure someone is going to say how this is terrible and we need 24 hour coverage of a growing black oily mess. And that I'm an insensitive monster. eh. |

I mean, they could be doing ridiculously dangerous crap by trying to visit the oil spill with electronics. 65 feet is reasonable, especially considering the dangers of malfunctioning flash photography. They can easily use telescopic/long focus lenses, there shouldn't be a big hit in the quality of reporting because of this. A mile is 5280 feet. That's only 001.1% of a mile. The only thing this should do is force publishers to use skilled photographers. Last edited by Cosmonautical; 07-06-2010 at 02:27 AM. |
