Republican Primaries/Caucuses

Their counting up the votes for the Iowa Caucus, and it looks like it will be either Romney or Santorum. As I write this, CNN has Santorum over Romney by only 37 votes with 97% of districts reporting in. In terms of delegates, things may already be settled, I think.

Ron Paul has come in a close 2nd, and Gingrich is leading the rest of the bunch. I'm a little sad that Jon Huntsman has almost no support, but he hasn't seemed to be trying all that hard. Republicans still surprise me by taking Santorum seriously, though.

Maybe. I'm curious to see if he picks up the majority of Perry's supporters if he drops out, as it looks like he will.

I don't think Santorum will be able to muster enough popularity nationwide, especially among independents and liberals. I'll be astounded if anyone but Romney gets the nomination.

I'm predicting Santorum will more or less take the same path Huckabee did in '08. He won the Iowa Caucus, came in third in New Hampshire, and then eventually dropped off the map.

Huntsman is the only sane man out of the group. I still wouldn't vote for him in a general election against Obama, but still.

Rick Santorum is the most vile, hateful man in the race right now.

Romney narrowly beat out Santorum in Iowa.

Santorum will likely get more votes now that Bachmann's out of the race. Maybe Perry's, too.

The only thing that would be needed to complete this circus is someone running on the platform of stopping witches from hexing America.

At this point I think it iwll be Romney vs. Obama. Ron Paul will probably take a good portion of the vote, but I am thinking Obama will still win, mainly because Paul will likely take enough voters away from Romney to make that possible.

I actually have to give Ron Paul credit where it's due; he's earned my respect. He has not - nor will he ever - earn my vote, because there are some positions he has that are REALLY scary, but he's the only one out there who's not a hypocrite. Still, he's an ideologue, which is just as bad because that means a double edged sword, and a lot of Paul's double edges are on the handle in this case. But he has more respect from me than Perry and Santorum (too many issues here to comment on), Newt (his hypocrisy), and Romney (executives at private equity/leveraged buyout firms are automatically disqualified in my book).

Still, I'm voting for Obama not because I want to but because I know what the alternative is. -CSM

Right now we've got Romney in first in NH with 39%, followed by Paul with 23% and Huntsman with 17%.

Huntsman is out and endorsing Romney. Romney looks like he probably has it locked down (but that's been true for some time).
