car door's are made of aluminum...its meant to be light, so its not nearly as strong as steel.

car doors are partially hollow. Steel armour would be placed on leather padding, which in turn would layer on top of the actual flesh. An Axe(katana) can cut a 2'4 pine beam(hollow, no density car door) in one powerful swing.

But, its not gunna cut through a white oak tree trunk(dense steel on top of leather, on top of human flesh).

If that didn't make sense...you can stab a pencil through a piece of paper easily. But you can't stab a pencil through 25 pieces of paper stacked ontop of each other, as easily as just one.

I heard that some knights used maces that were so powerful, they can crush bone, and bone is only a little harder than concrete. So if a samurai's armor is as strong as concrete, a knight could probably smash through it.

At any rate...

I would say a Samurai could be better, but only due to some clauses. Not only is he faster, but you forget that his sword usually has a slender tip. If the Samurai could evade attacks from the Knight and find a weak point in his armor, a simple impaling would probably defeat (or possibly kill) the Knight. Other than that, Knights have a greater adventage

^^ Most European swords have tapering tips as well. It would be difficult to stab with a curved sword.

</font>
You're dismissing knights as slow - they may be portrayed that way in the movies, but in reality knights were trained rigourously in terms of agility. Also, the knight would probably be using a shield - which samurai rarely if ever witnessed in their time. And no, katanas cannot cut through steel. It wouldn't be able to cut through a shield. It would get hella stuck and the 'rai would be hella screwed.

Yeah, and even if the knight turns out to be a kind person and lets the samurai go, the 'rai will still have to perform a seppuku and kill himself. It sucks to be a samurai (but you will at least look good on the cover of a comix book/anime movie.

Yeah, eh? They do look cool. Problem is manga/anime/etc hardly ever get it right. Spike Spiegel was actually a damn good samurai, excluding the honor thing. Regardless -- culture has elevated samurai to an ungodly level of praise. Swords that can cut through anything and ****. But all you have to do is copare bushido and chivalry and we have our own samurai in the Knights (although the differences in values are IMMENSE AND CYCLOPEAN).

It's interesting to read up on this stuff. Especially after reading SHOGUN, by James Clavelle.

I found this copy of the Chivalry, as King Arthur would've written it, had he existed. I've also found the Bushido. I'll post 'em when I find 'em again.
