I'm not sure. You never really know what's out there.

I'm pretty positive ghosts exist. I used to live in a badly haunted house.

^Chairs would come out during the night by themselves, lights would come on and off over and over, the computer would turn itself on,the TV would just come on,and a figure of a shady man would keep appearing during the night.Basically anything that could happen, did.

I believe in a sort of String Theory interpretation, which involves crossing over of different times, hence 'ghosts'. So I don't believe in ghosts, but I do believe there's a scientific explanation.

No.
MM, I'd like to hear more about your idea, especially considering String Theory deals with the subatomic level.

Well, naturally at the moment I don't have an exact memory of it, but basically according to String Theory the different dimensions exist on 'branes' with little half-strings connecting parts of them together. From time to time they cross one another. Assume one brane is our time and the other is the past. Or, alternatively, one brane contains us and the other contains those who have passed. Where they cross would be the 'ghost phenomena'.

In other words, not only do we see and hear and otherwise notice things which aren't there, but the things on the other side would see us as ghosts as well, and claim what we were doing in turn was 'ghostly' if they didn't understand.

Naturally I'm unsure, I wish to reread and learn more before I commit this to being serious, but... that's my conjecture.

I'm gonna say no. A few times I thought I saw 'spirits' (my interpretation of spirit isn't a ghost) such as this one incident where I woke up and I thought I was looking at my mom, but the next instant she was gone. Other incidents usually resulted in me thinking someone called my name out.

Yeah that happens all the time, I hear my name being called out and I ask my mom if she called me and she says no.

I believe in life after love death--in that sense, I guess I believe in ghosts. That said, I'm not really sold on the traditional 'moaning and rattling chains in a sheet' ghost, nor on haints, will'o'wisps, poltergeists, vampires, goblins, witches, or any other kind of boogermen.

Your concept of "dimensions" is far closer to the "parallel universes from fiction" style than the 'dimensions' involved in the string theory variants. First dimension is a line, two is a plane, three is space as we know it, and four through to eleven are mostly for balancing the equations.

Hence, I need to reread the stuff involved. My opinion is mostly that you can explain 'ghosts' one way or another... just we don't have one right now.

I personally don't believe in them as being ghosts.
I believe that they are demonic entities in diguise.

And blake, as far as seeing your mother,I don't know what to say about that.

I agree that a 4th or greater dimensional overlap is an interesting possible explanation of phantoms, but that does not explain the obvious sensation of malevolence one can perceive in the presence of a poltergeist or other restless spirits.

I used to live across the street from a cemetery, and I can honestly identify those feelings - genuinely most of the time, the cemetery was a peaceful place. I used to walk my dog, fly my kite, and sledride on an empty hill there. There were, however, moments of unease where I could for no definable reason perceive something unwelcoming about the environment. I don't know if I'd call that a ghost, but it was very real to me.

Yes, aboslutely. I see ghosts all the time; naturally, that spurs my belief in them.

I'm not sure if I believe in Ghosts or not I believe there is definately more to our existence then just our mortal life, but if it's Heaven, Hell or running around with friggen chain on your leg I'm not sure. I do believe that if there are ghosts there not the demonic entities seen in movies and comics, but that there people who we knew, who we influenced, or even people who might have wanted to know us. I don't know no one really can and by the time they do (If they even do) I doubt they can acces the Internet.
