Welcome and Read First: Rules and Guidelines of the Polls Forum

Hi there! Welcome to the Polls Forum, where VGFers get to know each other better.
This forum exists for members to ask open questions to the VGF populace, and for people to voice their opinion and preferences on those questions that are asked. Feel free to discuss other's responses, as well, especially if you want more information about the nuance's of someone's opinion.

Poll definition: A poll is an open question or set of questions where the question(s) form the main body of the first post. It does not necessarily need to use the auto-poll option when being created. (The Polls Forum was around for a LONG time before the autopolls option came to UBB.)

Polls of virtually any sort are welcome here, but I as moderator have made some rules that should be followed.

• Play nice. This is my main rule. Violate it and expect to be warned and/or have the post disappear or even be reported to the Moderator Forum if you have been behaving badly enough. You are welcome to have a strong opinion, but you are not welcome here if you are going to attack people.
  
• Your poll must have a theme. Simply chucking a bunch of random things together in an auto-poll and labelling it "Choose one!" will result in your poll being told off and sent to the naughty corner.
  
• If you are going to "bump" a poll from the archives - follow this criteria. If when you read the poll, you consider that it is unlikely that most of the respondent's opinion would have changed in the time since they've posted, you may bump the topic with a full response of your own. If you think it likely that opinions would have changed, or you're not sure, make a new topic. However, if a topic is on the first or second page, always bump in it unless your response wouldn't fit.
  
• If you realise you forgot something immediately after you post, edit your post, don't double-post. I will merge your posts if you do not follow this.
  
• Though I haven't seen any like this for a while, this rule still applies: No vanity polls. By this, I mean ones like "Are you my friend?" "Who knows me?" and others.
  
• Only polls are allowed in this forum. This should be obvious, I hope.
  
• If you have a poll about a specific specialist subtopic, and it fits wholly within another specialist forum, it might be a better fit to post it there. (EG: A poll about "best Zelda villian" should probably go in the Zelda forum.) The converse of that is that if you have a poll that doesn't fit a specialist forum exactly, it belongs here, rather than the Misc Forum.
  
• If I see a pressing need for action outside the areas addressed here, I will take it. This is a catch-all for myself, really.
  
• Humor is appreciated. I really mean this one.

If you have an issue with a poll, feel free to bring it up in that topic, or send me a private message. If you have a problem with me, send me a private message, or if you cannot resolve the issue through that channel send a private message to an administrator.
In addition, I live in Australia - so my responses may be delayed by half-a-day or so due to timezone issues.
I subscribe to the Polls Forum, so I can see any new posts in the forum. In addition, I subscribe to every new topic I see, so they appear in my User CP when replied to. I'm watching all the topics, even if I'm not posting in them.
