You can't forget the Kinks. They were easily the most British of the British Invasion bands. The Kinks laid down the groundwork for the British punk scene in the late 70's/early 80's and the Britpop scene of the 90's. The Kinks laid your mother, too. Without the Kinks there would be no Buzzcocks, no Blur, no Supergrass, no Clash, no Lightning Seeds, no Stone Roses, no Pulp, etc. (If you don't know the bands I'm talking about, you should learn.) And where the **** is Dave Dee, Dozy, Beaky, Mick & Tich? For those of you not "in the know," you can learn the same way I did via YouTube: Last edited by Bomby; 12-24-2007 at 11:13 PM. | ||

Also, the bands I put that were influenced by the Kinks aren't technically "British Invasion" bands, since that label refers to the bands from Britain mostly in the 60's that hit it big in America, although most of them could fit into the less-impacting "Second British Invasion" of the 90's. In all honesty... and you can shoot me for this if you'd like... I've never been that fond of the Stones. |
