Oldschool smashbrothers has history of course. Also has the original badass metal mario and giant DK. I'll vote later when I actually have time, damnit. |

Original I was good at, it was easy for me to knock people around. I was known as an evil player then, using Fox to kick people like Soccer balls. Then Melee came out, with the tiers and the nonsense and the sword guys who cheat. This destroyed my game and left me with virtually nothing. For the years it was out I could never have fun playing multiplayer due to my lack of knowledge of a bunch of random sneaky game holes. Brawl came out and I was restored to 'terrifying' with ROB, and all is right now--but in shiny color instead of cartoony stuff. |

I got to be an absolute monster in Melee, playing it so much and getting such an intimate feel for the timing of everything that when I tried to go back to SSB I was completely useless. The N64 controller felt alien in my hands and I couldn't cope with not having a mid-air dodge, among other more subtle things. I haven't played Brawl much, but the times I have I've had similar issues. Maybe I'd do better if I had played with the GC controller. |

The entire "tier" system was created by players looking to justify their prejudices; there is nothing in the game code to support it. (Unless you count the CPU's competency, which no one who knows what they're talking about does.) And remember, "I'm-a Luigi, number one!" |

If you think you're going to win with Fox because he's Fox, you're an idiot and you should stop playing games now. |

Hence because I couldn't Wavedash or otherwise trick my way around my characters were universally useless against anyone who'd learned those tricks, which was immensely frustrating. |

Tournament players who say people need to learn how to play are stupid. 2. People who dis tournament players for the things they know are also stupid. Quote:
You don't have to know about "sneaky game holes." If you know tournament players, play some time matches on stages like Big Blue, with items on. If they don't want to because it's not fun, that's their fault and they're dumb. Quote:

Capt, Tiers weren't created by Fox players. I play as Doctor Mario and I still think tiers exist. People play who they enjoy playing as--if that's Fox, more power to them. There are some well-known tourney players who play as mid-to-low tiers: Gimpyfish plays Bowser, King plays Jigglypuff, the list goes on. Quote:
If you meant something else, let me know. Now I want you guys to pay close attention to this: If you do advanced techniques, you're not necessarily a good player. If you're a good player, the advanced techniques are extremely useful. See what I'm saying? I can L-cancel, wavedash, Shuffle, but there are people out there that are way better than I am. Don't piss all over the idea of tournament players just because they play the game differently. Enjoy the game. Don't talk **** about other people who enjoy it in their way. Also, I have nothing against any of you guys, but every time someone makes an unfair generalization, especially when they're saying something stupid about something I enjoy, I get a little bothered. Also, Brawl is my favorite. Last edited by Marilink; 05-08-2008 at 02:54 PM. | ||||
