Giygas is an immensely powerful alien whose evil power destroyed his body and mind and left him as an uncontrolable powerhouse capable of damning the entire universe into a world of darkness and despair. Both cause the apocalypse and are only defeated by the heroes traveling through time to destroy it. Who would win? |

I'll go with Lavos, since it's the only character I'm familiar with. But... I'd like to know a little more about Giygas itself. Like what kind of mannerisms does Giygas have? Does it act on its own? Could it act on its own? |

Its mannerisms include undulating creepily, rambling insane gibberish, & unleashing utterly incomprehensible but very powerful attacks. It looks exactly like the background behind Larvos in the above picture. And remember, "It feels good......it's not right......I'm-a...so...happy........." |

Lavos is a 'positive' being, therefore he is deadly-weak against a 'negative' being, like Giygas, who feeds by destroying everything remotely good or positive and enhancing evil wills in everything. Lavos is more of a giant bug who thinks nothing of destroying worlds and warping them. Giygas destroys worlds and the warping is just a result of the eventual annihilation. Giygas is also capable of threatening the planet even before he goes insane--no such thing for Lavos. Giygas absorbs the entire dimension he is in and basically annihilates everything; at which point Lavos, if he hasn't formed yet, is destroyed. If he is fully formed and they somehow both appear at the same time, Giygas is still invincible. Why? Lavos doesn't have the support of good guys and a whole planet to pray Giygas to death. Giygas is immune to physical or magical harm. Lavos happens to lack a real spirit, so while he would take a while to destroy by 'incomprehensible attacks', he'd be unable to truly harm Giygas back. A similar character I made up would probably have a better chance against Giygas. The Void--a living plot hole in the vague outline of a human, with red eyes but made of pure darkness otherwise--would be able to bend and rip reality in order to summon the sort of thing Giygas is weak against. However he would also be damaged by Giygas. Basically, only characters with a perceived spiritual strength (or twisted perversion of such) can really impact Giygas. Wheras Lavos can just be beaten to death if you're powerful enough. |
