How fanatical a gamer are you?

I'd have to say I'm an average gamer. Sure, I play games a lot, but they don't dominate my life or anything; it's just my hobby.

Hardcore. However, I would be fanatical if more must-have games came out.

Hardcore.

I mean, I am making a career out of my love for them, they better be more than a hobby.

I have too many other things to do to spend very much time playing; I'd say they're a secondary hobby for me, unless there's a really wickedcool game I need to play.

So, you...are planning on having a career in making them, like programming I guess?

Or there's an epic miscommunication here. =D

Other: Collector. I buy games because I like to, and play the ones worth playing. Platformers, Adventure, and Beatemups are my favorite genres.

AI's pretty much the same way I am: I like to collect rare RPGs, sometimes newer stuff and the occasional rarity for SNES or such. I don't tend to play as often as I used to, so I picked average, and I have at least 12 games I've never even given a spin yet. I don't really mind; I just like to have them.

I'd say about average/collector. More casual when I'm at school, though.

Based on the amount of time I spend playing, I'm average. That's mainly because I'm usually on the computer, though. If it weren't for that, I'd probably play games a lot more.

Average to hardcore. I don't think fanatical :P

I hope to be a spriter or programmer when I can. If I can't then I have no clue what I could be.

I took a career test a while ago and the first result was "Video game designer." Happens to be the thing that makes me blissful.

Casual/Average, mostly due to time & budget constraints.

And remember, "I'm-a Luigi, number one!"

Video game testing is a real job, but it is probably more complex and rare than it sounds, it may even be temporary. I'd kill a bajillion people to get that job though. Hell, 2 bajillion.

Oh, this seems random but I brought it up 'cause the game job talk.

Testers may have to do a lot or maybe very little, but I might get bored after a while.

Video Game Testing is like Gynecology.

It sounds awesome, until you realize you still have to mess with the bad ones.

Game testing sounds fun in practice, but you need to have a ridiculously high degree of logging- every single thing you do, and what the outcome is MUST be recorded in detail. You don't just play through the game and declare it a success; you're expected to do stupid things and try find all the weird little places you can cause glitches, and write it all down. Naturally, they aren't always found, or no one cares (like being able to eventually leap all the way up and over a mountain range and get into an area far beyond your current level). It's not the kind of job you think it is.
