Just not backwards.

I believe that time travel is possible, but not that time machines will ever be invented.

If they are ever going to be made, though, time would already be messed up. Someone would go back into the past, do something different, screw with history, and everything we know would change right in front of our eyes.

Here's the problem with teleportation.
Assuming a device could be invented which would identify the quantum state of matter in an individual in one location and transmit that pattern to a distant location from the assembly, you would not have actually transported the individual. You wold have destroyed him in one location, and recreating him in another.

Even if backwards time travel were possible, what good would it do you when nothing else travels with you? Man, that would be rough.

Basic teleportation has already been accomplished on an atomic level. To teleport a human being would likely require an energy source equal to or greater than the sun, though.

Teleportation:
'Course, by Sheldon's argument, teleporting food, equipment, et cet, would be no problem at all. Since the new physical form would be exactly the same, the only problem he brings up is people; that is, would the electrical patterns in the brain remain the same, preserving consciousness, memory, et cet?
Applegate provided an elegant work-around in Animorphs with Zero-space (although she never applied it to short-range transport, only prolonged space travel). Translate a body into Z-space & then propel it at light-speed to any location within 5-10 light-minutes (to prevent brain damage from lack of oxygen). It's fast enough that it becomes tantamount to teleportation, and the original body & mind are preserved.

Time travel:
Time travel BttF-style couldn't really happen; although if it could, at least the dangers are at least well-documented as a precautionary guide (plus, it would be the absolute coolest method). Terminator-style seems to be a stable time loop anyway, so screw it. And then Timecop/Timerider-styles just make no sense whatsoever.
Quantum Leap, I think, has the safest procedure: The time-traveler replaces another person, who is kept safe back at the time-travel facility until they switch back. The problem there is the replaced person's memory (& the whole Sam-leaped-before-they-knew-how-to-bring-him-back part).
And I will punch in the face anyone who brings up Primer.

Memory erasure:
...scares the hell out of me, no matter who's doing it. I don't trust the government in my head under any circumstances, & even if it was only doable by some private firm like Lacuna Inc., the issues of competency & ethics come into play.

Gravity:
I know, right?

And remember, "I'm-a Luigi, number one!"

According to Stephen Hawking, time travel to the past would not be possible, because the universe can't do anything that would cause something to not make sense (i.e. going back in time to kill the person who invented the time machine).
