Outside of Random Forum Games, the base point increase for a post is 5 points. In Random Forum games, 2.5 points are awarded per post. I only know the point per character value for Random Forum Games, (possibly the same) so I'll use that for these purposes. .01 points are awarded for each character in the post. Posting 10,000 characters would award 1,000 points, in addition to the base point increase of 2.5 for a total of 1,002.5. Let's say that when the poster post this, they had nothing on hand and let's ignore the view points. Deleting the post would drop their point total to zero and editing it to have zero characters (if it was possible) would reduce their points to 2.5. So posting a large message to gain a large amount of points can be reversed completely by deleting or editing the post. |

If anything, some thread starters would have just edited your posts to discredit you. Because we do have a largely hands off approach, most people end up getting away with a lot (Lurch more than most), but I thought you handled the situation maturely. But if you do feel there's a problem with a post, report it, and all mods, supermods, and admins will be instantly alerted. __________________ One day I'll have money, prestige, power. I enjoy a good debate, and I look at every one I participate in as a chance to change someone's mind for the better; but when that kind of thing starts happening, whoever is causing it usually isn't going to be very open to anything I say, no matter what. And even if you assume that you're not really going to change anyone's mind, and just debate to strengthen yourself in your own position, or even just for the fun of it, who likes getting yelled at? And who likes yelling? I know some people get some sort of fulfillment in the idea that they've put someone in their place, but personally I'd rather have my opponent admit defeat in the face of reason than have the argument end in the thread getting locked, you know what I mean? I just wish people would keep their cool, that's all. |
