About these status bars on the left...

I'm sure we've all noticed those RPGish Health, Magic, and Experience meters on our information to the left of each of our posts. Now I was wondering one thing:

WHAT THE HELL ARE THEY FOR!?

In all seriousity, is there a purpose to these things? It certainly has nothing to do with the VGF RPG, as my stats on there are entirely different. I can't figure out how to change my status bars, either. I really would like to find a way to recharge my health and magic, and gain some more experience to level up. So it all boils down to this:

Is there a purpose to these meters, or are they entirely superficial? How are they affected? Why are they here in the first place?

Basically, they're just for fun. They track your vB stats (activity, longevity, #posts). I have no idea how they are calculated.

They mostly seem to show who the oldest and most active members. If I am correct, HP goes up by two for every post and magic goes up by one for each post in a different forum.

There used to be a thread explaining it all but I can't seem to find it right now.

Your max and current HP increase slowly as you post and decrease rapidly per every day you are gone.

I think the numbers are plus two HP per post and minus fifty for every missed day.

If I am correct, magic goes up by two either every time you go up a level or each time you post in a different forum. Either way it still seems suffers the harsh -50 for each day you don't post.
