Question Some way to turn off the clutter.

As good as this 'new forum' system is, it is irksome for there to be such a sheer amount of buttons, toolbars, notifications, and other things screaming for my attention every time I just want to search the forums. Yes, I know it's probably impossible, but I would suggest an optional setup which would chop out the following things from my view:

*Welcome, blahblah. The Time is, you last visited, Status, etc. This box seems to be mostly a number of variables for people to stare at.
*The blue-and-white dropdown toolbar. While anyone who uses the main features on it may find it useful, save for the User CP and Log Out, and possibly Donate, the rest of it serves to clutter space.
*On the index: Least and Most Active threads of the day, and the entire 'What's Going on?' box.
*Browsing a forum: Popular tags, Posting rules, Display options.
*In a thread: High Scores, Level, HP/Health/Experience, Bank Points, Thanks, Gifts, and Current Mood. These novelties only increase loading time for people who don't use or care about them. Members who have read this thread would also be nice, if it were optional.
*Finally, the big ol' space between posts is not very useful.

I may just be a codgery old member for suggesting this, but in browsing the forum, what many may take for features seem to waste bandwidth to me. If there was some way for members to turn off features by choice, it would be nice. (The 'minimize tab-thingy button doesn't really count, as the tops of the window-things which you can minimize remain to clutter the area)

And yes, if you guessed I would prefer a minimalist, UBB-style presentation of posts, you would be right. But, this is just my opinion. I don't know if everybody else likes these features or what, so... there you go.

I used to think it was megas cluttery, but I eventually got used to it, like how I got used to banner ads in general (before *******). I think it crossed the line from moderately useful to sheer vanity when the (animated!) level bars were introduced in every post.

I wonder if it's a high learning curve for new members, wondering what the heck all this crazy stuff is about. Otherwise, it's harmlessly cute.

The only thing that really bothers me about all this clutter is the fact that it doesn't matter how long your post is. It will take up a huge amount of space anyway.

I have no idea what the life, magic and experience bars do. Does anyone else have a clue?

So, if it really is a frequently asked question, why isn't it in the FAQ?

They should just make it so all the stuff on the side can be seen on your profile, for anyone who really cares about it.
