In-post advertisements?

What's up with these? You know, certain phrases being put as white hyperlinks, etc.

I'm not just super-annoyed by them but they make reading on the battlefield a chore.

And they slow down my computer as they scan text for stupid phrases they can stupidly hyperlink. And made me think my lax computer-defenses had been penetrated by some heinous form of spyware.

Because there is spyware that acts exactly like that.

But I googled the name that would come up in the lower-left hand corner of my browser before those links would pop up - kona11.kontera was the name - and it turns out it's some sort of admin-instituted advertising program to raise money. That's what I gathered, anyway.

Yeah, at first I thought it was something Shane had done, but I ran a few anti-spyware programs just to be safe because I've had the spyware that acts like that. Glad to know it's not just me.

Arrow

I'm kind of annoyed by them, but I guess Shane has to offset some of the cost somehow.

Asbestos, video games, find classmates, World of Warcraft gold, Nigerian bank accounts, Viagra, Levitra, Zonex, shoes.

Oh, good, I was thinking spyware at first, too. This is considerably less bad than that.

And remember, "I'm-a Luigi, number one!"

At some other board where I foudn out some info, there was the option to disable them. That would be a pretty sweet feature, if you ask me.

This topic reminds me of one of those, "Actually, none of that is true. I only got a bad report card, but doesn't this put that into perspective?" jokes.

I am checking with support to see whether anything can be done about the load times, as they're annoying even me. Beyond that, I don't see anything wrong with these ads.

They didn't show up where they always show up for me, so that's a rather - *knocks on wood* - good sign.
