I'd make a convincing speech about how we shouldn't be fighting each other, that the true enemy was the shadowy bastard manipulating us into conflict from behind the scenes. Then my clone would be all, "My God, you're right," and he'd put away his weapons and come up to shake hands, and then I'd knife the ugly sumbitch right in the eye.

Unless we had known each other for a long period of time, I would have skills & knowledge that he would not. In fact, the life-experience factor alone states that he would really only be a threat if he was created back when I was like, 10 or younger, & mammalian cloning wasn't even possible back then.

Hold off a minute how do I know that I'm not the clone/duplicate/doppleganger/alternet reality version of myself? Because clones have to grow just like a natural human, mine would most likely have to age roughly 12 years before it can grow to optimum fighting strength.

Within 12 years, I could build a whole host of nuclear weaponry to wipe out the little bugger.

We wouldn't. Couldn't. Because we would think in 100% exactly the same way. Try punching a mirror (not hard!) and not having your fist line up with your reflection's.

And, the fact that we have the same handedness (as opposed to that of the reflection) means nothing. We would each land the same number of punches, and be able to block our every moves.

UNLESS

The battlefield is assymetrical with interesting terrain features. Then whichever version of me that got to higher ground first, jumped on the other, and beat him up, would win. Which is what I'd do. Or maybe he'd just allow us to fight by breaking the symmetry.

If we didn't have to fight, we'd probably play Brawl or Kirby Air Ride for hours. But then we wouldn't be able to decide who was player 1... we'd ask for someone else to help.

^You know how to beat yourself, I assume. Your clone knows you know and will adjust. But you know your clone knows and that he will adjust, so you adjust. But your clone knows that. Each time either of you "knows", it takes a split second to think about it. So it's not an infinite circle even though it starts out that way. Eventually, all those fractions of a second will add up, and one will have an advantage.

Then there's moves which force your opponent to take a specific action. How long can you and your clone play the mind game mentioned above before a split-section infraction occurs and you perform a power play that forces the other into position? Or will your clone pull it off first?

That's the trick to the clone fight scenario.

If my clone shared my mindset, as you mentioned, then we wouldn't need to fight, because we'd know we were both trying to accomplish the same goal.

Then, we'd make peace and have some beverages.
